New Megan Thee Stallion Footage Sparks Tory Lanez Pardon Push

New video evidence about Megan Thee Stallion has landed, feeding a digital firestorm. Fans of Canadian rapper Tory Lanez are gathering behind a new effort calling for a pardon from California Gov. Gavin Newsom and citing what they say is key, undisclosed evidence in the 2020 music world-rocking shooting case.

The excitement started building on Thursday, May 29, when Florida Rep. Paulina Anna Luna tweeted her support of the campaign, referencing "new videos and docs uploaded to 36HoursLater," a site that went temporarily live that same day. These materials, which also feature previously unreleased bodycam footage of the officers involved and trial evidence curated by the Mercers' investigators, are being used to pick apart the prosecution's narrative of events and potentially rewrite the story altogether.

This is not a rehash of old arguments or another social media flare-up. But this time, Tory's supporters are returning with receipts, videos, transcripts, and quotes that show a case of doubt surrounding the conviction. One attention-grabbing clip depicts Megan Thee Stallion telling officers on the scene: "I didn't get shot … I stepped on glass." She also says, "I cannot go to jail; I cannot have that on my image." For many who have followed this case closely, those are ton-of-bricks statements.

The footage, hosted on the 36 Hours Later site and mirrored throughout YouTube, doesn't offer new forensic evidence. But it does highlight inconsistencies in Megan's and others' accounts. Luna and the site's creators say the videos raise questions about the timeline and the validity of some of the decisions made during the trial and reveal major flaws in the prosecution's theory of the case.

The story with Tory Lanez has been misled by a lack of information, lies, and contradicting statements," Luna shared. "No DNA. No bullet fragments. Conflicting medical reports. Conflicting testimonies. Eyewitness testimony was disregarded.

Since the site went live, hashtags including #FreeTory and #JusticeForDaystar (a reference to Lanez's given name, Daystar Peterson) have been lighting up social media. The campaign, which says independent legal minds and researchers gathered its information, asks the public and the Governor to reconsider the case.

Tory Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to a 10-year prison term in December 2022 for shooting Megan Thee Stallion after an argument in July 2020. Lanez has never wavered in his claims of innocence despite his conviction.

Now, fresh evidence in a new wave of videos online, coupled with expanding support on the internet, has given his fans new hope that those discoveries won't just go viral but may help tip the scales of justice.
