It was Monday night, July 14, 2025, and Beyoncé had just finished the last Atlanta show of her Cowboy Carter Tour at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Fans were buzzing in rhinestones and western wear as things shifted from celebration to chaos on a dime.
The chaos began after a woman screamed at the crowded train station upon seeing a bug, according to MARTA officials. There was a series of chain reactions starting with screaming and running, which was her instinctive response. Fellow concertgoers fled in all directions without knowing what was setting off the alarm.

"Initial reports were a woman was frightened of a bug, screamed and ran and panic spread to others not knowing what caused her to run," a MARTA spokesperson said.
The situation became more perilous as the crowd surged toward the escalators. Suddenly, in a freak twist, the escalator accelerated and then slammed to a sudden halt. People slipped and tumbled like dominoes, ending up in a jumbled heap of sparkly clothes, purses, and general confusion.
Nine people were injured in the surprise pileup. One person attending the concert received a broken ankle. Seven others were taken to local hospitals with cuts and bruises, and one refused treatment altogether.
Footage from the scene showed some of Beyoncé's fans being wheeled out on stretchers, dressed head-to-toe in Cowboy Carter's finest garb, down to the bedazzled hats and fringe jackets.
On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a rental car used by her crew was broken into, resulting in the theft of highly sensitive materials, including unreleased music. Thieves stole laptops, designer clothes, AirPods Max headphones, and five thumb drives and hard drives with Beyoncé's tracks, tour visuals, and both past and future set lists, according to reports.
Through vehicle tracking and security camera footage, authorities have identified a suspect vehicle, a 2025 red Hyundai Elantra, and partial fingerprints. An arrest warrant was issued on July 15, 2025, but to date, no arrests have been made, and the stolen material hasn't been recovered.
Fortunately, there were no life-threatening injuries, and the music icon herself was not at the station at the time of the escalator drama. Yet the fans remain rattled and perhaps just a little more leery of bugs.
As one glitter-covered attendee was heard to say on her way back out into the world: "I didn't come for Beyoncé, I came for a stampede. "But hey, at least the show was perfect.
