China Walker, one-half of the ferocious twin rap duo Cam & China, has died at age 30. China lost her two-year battle with a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer this week, dying peacefully, surrounded by love and her twin sister, Cam, who held her all the way.
The news shocked the community when it broke in the form of an emotional Instagram post from Cam. China took a photo of herself holding China's hand, one of what many believe to be one of their final moments together. In a candid and emotional post, Cam penned, "Most of you don't know, China has been fighting an aggressive ovarian cancer for 2 years and She crossed over tonight and is sleeping now. I do not want to discuss it anymore because there is nothing I can do to change it right now. It was nothing avoidable.. it was the will of Allah.. If you must be agitated and saddened please give me space and let me grieve in peace…just know she loved all of you who support her until October 2 and will always do"

The connection between Cam and China was not just lyrical; it was lifelong, spiritual, and unbreakable. Twin sisters from Inglewood, they managed to carve out their lane as women in a male-dominated industry and weave us into a love story that feels so organic, we as viewers could never have faked. From their no-nonsense bars to their infectious energy on social media, Cam & China weren't just artists; they embodied sisterhood and resilience.
China's death is more than a personal loss for her family, a deep wound in the music community at large. The duo's 2016 rise, with their self-titled EP, startled everybody. With raw lyricism, a dirty beat, and filtered confidence, they didn't just get streams; they earned respect. Their freestyle videos went viral and even earned them attention in unlikely places such as the HBO Max show Rap Sh*t.
While China's fight with cancer was private, the love for her was always public. In her last message, Cam urged everybody to remember the quiet storms that so many of us face, behind the scenes: "Check on yo people, you never ever know what they are going thru. Until it's too late."
At just 30 years old, China already has a rich hip-hop history that has become an integral part of its legacy, not just as a rapper, but as a sister, a fighter, and a light within a genre that is often robbed of its brightest far too soon. She may be silenced, but her influence persists in the beats, in the verses, and in every young artist who recognized themselves in her and Cam's invincible kinetic energy.
Funeral arrangements are pending, and the family is requesting privacy as they mourn. Cam, and to the entire Walker family, we are all with you. Rest in power, China. You were one of a kind.
