Big O and Benny Canales navigate life without a map on “Blindfolded”

San Diego rapper Benny Canales and hip-hop artist Big O team up for "Blindfolded," a cinematic hip-hop EP about the uncertainty of moving through life without always knowing what’s next. The collaborative project clocks in at 21 minutes and 30 seconds across 10 tracks, fusing soulful samples, warm melodies, and rugged boom-bap production into a sound that travels through nostalgia, isolation, conflict, hope, and, ultimately, freedom.

Starting with “Good Times,” the EP sets an emotional tone that continues into “Day Room,” maintaining the project's reflective mood. “Lonely,” with Johnny August and Tranzformer, adds another dimension to the story, and “Heat is On” pushes the project into a more intense space. “No Chains” takes the central theme closer to liberation, capturing the feeling of breaking loose from limitations and continuing to move forward despite uncertainty.

The second half of "Blindfolded" features the entire journey in instrumental versions, with the production in the foreground. “Good Times – Instrumental,” “Day Room – Instrumental,” “Lonely – Instrumental,” “Heat is On – Instrumental,” “No Chains – Instrumental.” This revisits each song through the musical canvas Big O has painted. The EP’s soulful samples, warm textures, and boom-bap character shine through in these combined versions.

"Blindfolded" is a metaphor for life's unpredictability. The title mirrors the experience of moving forward without knowing what the future will bring, while each setback, challenge, and victory is just another part of the journey. The EP turns the uncertainty into a focused and cinematic hip-hop experience thanks to the collaboration of Big O and Benny Canales – one that ultimately moves from feeling lost to finding freedom.
