Angie Stone Children Issue Heartfelt Statement & Announce Public Memorial

And in case you missed it, the world of R&B and soul is still absorbing the shocking news of the death of legendary Angie Stone over the weekend at the age of only 63. As fans and fellow artists honor the trailblazing singer, her children, Michael and Diamond, released an emotional statement honoring their mother's incredible impact on music, culture, and faith.

The family thanked everyone for the love they wrote they have received. "It is with heavy hearts that the children of R&B singer Angie Stone and her extended family thank you all for your love and well wishes during this extremely difficult time,"

Angie Stone was more than a singer but was a force. A shining example of strength, grace, and authenticity, she opened the door to many artists and epitomized what it was to be a true pioneer. A measure of this, they said in their statement, was that she inspired Black women and girls everywhere.

Angie also loved and advocated for Black men with her No. 1 Hit song,' Brotha.' Angie Stone was a trailblazer of rap music who started as one-third of a female rap trio, The Sequence, before her solo career defined neo-soul.

For her closest companions, the pain of losing a figure so powerful is immeasurable. Diamond, Michael, and Angie's entire family thank you for your outreach, but respectfully ask that you respect their privacy during this time and while they grieve their mother.

Stone's voice may be silenced, but her legacy lives on, not only through her music but also through her dedication to serving her community. Angel dedicated herself to uplifting and empowering those in need through her charitable organization Angel Stripes and the Angie Stone Foundation.

The beloved singer recently took another step in her spiritual journey, signing up for college ministry courses. Her unyielding faith and calling to help others led her to study ministry; as her family wrote, "Angie had also gone to school for ministry. Her love for God and faith gave her a desire to share her belief in God and bring more to Christ."

The family has said that they are working on a public memorial. "Funeral services are still being organized alongside the memorial service for Angie's fans to celebrate her life, music, and legacy. Although Angie may no longer be with us in body, her family wants you to continue keeping her legacy alive."

Angie Stone was a mentor, a messenger of soul. Although she is no longer here, her voice, wisdom, and spirit will live on through the hearts she touched and the music she shared with the world. Rest in power, Angie.
