Jill Desiree amplifies the message of stings with "Fragile"

Jill Desiree's electrifying version of "Fragile" accomplishes tender in its lyrical complexity and urgent power. The original, a painfully poetic lament against the cycles of violence, is heartbreakingly pertinent. But Jill and her band won't let its warning go unheeded. Instead, they turn it up to eleven, flooding every note with rage and fervor, determined to drown out the cacophony of indifference.

"Fragile" is a feeling that the words and Sting's lyrics convey a profound and, unfortunately, timeless message. While nothing gives more to a cause than protest and advocates for that cause, I can well imagine that the ears are most deaf to this song's eloquent, understated, and very effective lyrical indictment of the endless iterations of violence that litter humanity's past, as is so often the case, the very ears well-drunk on furthering violence.

Jill leans into its raw emotional weight with an intensity that refuses to be denied. The band explodes in jagged leaps of fiery instrumentation, rendering "Fragile" an anthem of defiance, a half-mournful, half-war cry. But at this point, if no one will listen to Sting's warning, we don't know what else to do. Eventually, someone will hear. Jill Desiree is telling the world to wake up and listen.
