Jim Jones isn't holding back about his ongoing narrative with Ma$e. The Dipset rapper made things personal and then some in a recent interview with XXL, taking Ma$e to task in a dire personal attack that's turned fans' heads.
The beef between the Harlem-bred rappers has been a cold war for years, but Jones stoked the embers with some not-so-subtle body-shaming remarks about Ma$e's physique. Capo's answer was not diplomatic when asked about Ma$e's legacy in Hip-Hop.
"Ma$e needs to go on a diet," Jones shot back. "He got to get his life together. He needs to go see a doctor and get a physical."
And if that weren't enough, he added, "He looks awful. Bad-body, back-ass n####. I think N#### look big around the neck, waist look crazy. I'm body-shaming this n####. He needs to get his s### together. Get on the treadmill, do the pushups, do something. Especially if you want to hook with me."
His words touched off criticism, with many wondering if his attack crossed a line. In the age of social media, when the conversation around body image is more sensitive than ever, this kind of rhetoric can land an artist in hot water. However, Jim Jones has never been one to bite his tongue, and this feud seems nowhere near its conclusion.
Outside of the digs at Ma$e's appearance, Jones also took a moment to touch on his strained past with Dipset co-founder Cam'ron. He wanted to make clear that however it ended, his contributions to the group's legacy are untouchable. Earlier this year, Jones revealed his past with Cam'ron and Ma$e, explaining the roots of his disdain of Ma$e, which Jones credits to Ma$e's treatment of Cam'ron and other clique members.
"It started with Ma$e, he didn't do the right thing," Jones said. "I seen Ma$e s### on Cam and everyone around him. Like all the time."
Jones then explained how Ma$e's friend Cam'ron's undying loyalty to him only enraged his anger.
"Cam enemies were my enemies," he said. "Anyone that Cam didn't like, I didn't like. And I could already see how Ma$e was dealing with Cam, so I definitely wasn't rocking with him. And then I saw how much love Cam had with him and how Cam was jumping out the window for him, which friend should."
This latest spat is just another chapter in the long-running saga between these Harlem legends. Some fans view it as just another day on the timeline of rap beef, while others have suggested that Jones has gone too far.
Given that both rappers are still very much active in the industry, it's yet to be seen if Ma$e will return fire or just let Jones' words fly. One thing is sure: this saga has a long way to go, and fans will be keen on the next move in this harrowing feud.
