Kanye West Declares' War' on Kim Kardashian Over North West's Name Rights

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's continuing post-divorce drama got much more intense. On Saturday (March 15), Ye hit social media and aired a heated text exchange with his ex-wife, adamant that he's ready to battle his words, not ours.

North West's name, trademarks, and part in Kanye's latest musical venture. The messages Kanye posted showed that Kim had complete control of their daughter's name and that she didn't seem willing to change her mind about keeping North off of Ye's new song with Diddy.

In the screenshots, Kanye launches the conversation with the first message: "I'm never speaking with you again.

Kim replies, "At the time you asked me if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she's 18 it goes to her. So stop. I sent the paperwork over so she wouldn't be in the Diddy song for her protection. One person has to trademark! We, however, agreed when they were born I would get all of our kids' names and trademarks, so no one else would take them."

In classic Ye form, Ye does not back down: "Amend it, or I'm going to war. And neither of us will survive the public mess. You're going to have to kill me.

As if that wasn't enough, he later tweeted part of the legal document sent to him by a team from Kim, which states that Kim is the "sole and exclusive owner of all trademarks relating to North West's name, including North West Mark." It also argues that Ye's attempt to include North in the song violates their 2022 custody agreement.

Even as the legal smackdown unfolded, Ye did what Ye does best: he screamed at the wind. However, he still proceeded to post a snippet of the song featuring Diddy, Christian Combs, and North West. Though the whole track hasn't been officially released, that preview was enough for social media to erupt.

The latest fallout comes about two years after the couple's divorcement, which was finalized in November 2022 and was widely publicized. The agreement gave them joint legal and physical custody of their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, but also gave Kim complete control of their children's trademarks.

Kim and Kanye's breakup was far from clean. Upon filing for divorce in February 2021, citing "irreconcilable differences," Kardashian said she wished to move on peacefully. Yet Ye's public outbursts and controversial statements, not to mention his 2020 presidential run that floundered, complicated matters further.

The final divorce settlement ordered Ye to pay $200,000 monthly in child support and cover half of the kids' medical, educational, and security expenses. The couple split their assets, with Kim retaining several homes in California and Idaho.

And, of course, Kanye didn't stop there with the leaked messages. He's now calling himself "the prophet" on Twitter, which is stoking more controversy and raising even more eyebrows.

What's next in the Kardashian-West saga? If history is any guide, Kanye is not about to back down. Stay tuned. This war has only just begun.
