Kim Kardashian Reportedly Moves to Limit Kanye's Custody Rights After North West's Song Debut

The ongoing feud between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West over their kids turned another dramatic corner on Friday. Kim is preparing to file a request with a judge to limit Ye's joint decision-making rights due to Ye's decision to drop a new song featuring their 11-year-old daughter, North West, without her permission.

Ye, who legally changed his name from Kanye West, disregarded those objections and released the song "Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine," featuring the voice of North and the hip-hop titan Sean "Diddy" Combs. The new track has heightened tensions, with Kim now seeking legal action to restrain Ye's parental authority.

Kim and Kanye, of whom split was finalized in 2022, currently have joint physical and legal custody of their four kids, North (11), Saint (9), Chicago (7) and Psalm (5). However, sources say Ye hardly ever sees his children, so joint legal custody will be the real battleground. Following this latest stunt, Kim reportedly thinks Ye's participation in significant parental choices does more damage than good.

Kim did not treat this lightly. "As soon as she got wind of Ye's plans to have North on the track with Diddy, who's currently facing grave allegations of sexual assault, she immediately started seeking an emergency meeting with her legal team, a mediator, and a judge," the insider added. To prevent the song from being released.

But Ye declined to meet with him. Instead, he said that he would not release the track. Then, a day later, he released it on social media. In defiance, he said that men "make the final decision."

According to reports, combining that statement and his refusal to go along with mediation strengthened Kim's move. According to insiders, she seeks to legally remove Ye's decision-making power over her children's upbringing.

Physical custody has never been a contentious issue. Ye reportedly spends little time with the kids, but Kim is taking a hard stance regarding legal custody. According to their divorce agreement, any disagreements over major parental decisions must be settled in a private judicial hearing, with a mediator and attorneys present. However, when Ye bypasses that process and takes unilateral action, Kim is disillusioned with their co-parenting setup.

This irony also harkens back to Ye's previous social media tirades demanding more control over his children's lives and even stating that he was "going to war" with Kim. Now, it appears war may be brewing in court.

If Kim goes through with her legal challenge, it could dramatically change Ye's role in his children's lives. Though he would retain rights to their physical custody, significant decisions about their education, health, and public appearances would be entirely up to Kim.

For now, Ye's defiance places him, once again, at odds with the mother of his children. And now that Kim appears to have stopped playing by his rules, this battle over parental rights is far from over.
