Nipsey Hussle's Legacy Lives On As Blacc Sam Confirms Documentary & New Music Release

The impact of Nipsey Hussle on music and culture remains to be felt, and now, fans have something significant to look forward to. His brother, Blacc Sam, has added that a documentary series about Nipsey's life and legacy is officially coming alongside a posthumous music release many have been waiting for.

After Nipsey's untimely death in 2019, Blacc Sam has been focused on maintaining and safeguarding his brother's legacy. Nipsey speaks very plainly in our recent conversation about how everything that happens in Nipsey's name is from a place of respect and intention, and nothing ever sacrifices their principles for commercial gain.

Blacc Sam said. "It's not for sale. People can't just pay us some money and say, 'It has to be two episodes, three episodes.' The creative is not for sale."

Going beyond that assertive approach, Blacc Sam shared that the next doc can't come any sooner than when it's right instead of expedient for the sake of timetables. And for fans who can't wait to get the full story, he also specified that it's developing into an eight-episode series.

"We've kind of been just backing away, turning down a lot of offers, and just putting our head down and working," he said. "When the song is correct, it's looking like maybe 8 episodes when it's all done right.

Blacc Sam also had big news about unreleased music for people waiting to hear more of Nipsey's voice on record. After dribbling out only a handful of singles since Nipsey's death, including the Grammy-nominated "Deep Reverence" with Big Sean, the world will finally get a full-length project from him this year.

Blacc Sam explained that any posthumous release has to adhere to a vision Nipsey would have approved of: "If Hussl [Nipsey Hussle] didn't actually do the verse or work with the person or kind of put together the blueprint for the project, we're not doing it."

One of the projects that fit that standard was an album Nipsey had collaborating with Bino Rideaux. As Blacc Sam explained, the collaboration was nearly 80 percent complete, with the team diligently polishing it up via the unreleased verses Nipsey had lying around.

"He did something with Bino [Bino Rideaux], and there's a new project that we were about to put out," Blacc Sam said. "This was a project that he had with Bino that was pretty much 80 percent done, so the team kind of came in and got some unreleased verses and music that he had done with Bino and just polished it up, and it sounds amazing."

Black Sam's dedication to keeping Nipsey Hussle's creative integrity intact says a lot. Instead of cashing in on his legacy, he's making sure that every project released in Nipsey's name has the same dedication, authenticity, and vision that made him an icon in the first place. The new documentary and music remind us that The Marathon does indeed continue.
