Rihanna has never been one to hold her tongue, and now that she has kids, she’s even less tolerant of the haters. Recently, the multi-platinum superstar and business mogul took to Instagram to celebrate International Women’s Day, posting a heartfelt post about being a mom. But when one fan tried to throw shade at her children’s names, Rihanna responded with the kind of effortless clapback that only she could deliver.
On her Instagram post, Rihanna shared close-up photos of her newborn baby son, whom she shares with A$AP Rocky. The caption exuded pride and love as she reflected on the power of motherhood: “By far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman…my little miracles! #InternationalWomensDay.” She named her two sons, writing, “1- RZA 2- Riot Rose,” before adding a bit of signature Rihanna humor: “And yes, I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening.”
The comments were flooded with love from fellow stars, including Naomi Campbell and Katy Perry, celebrating RiRi’s journey as a mom. But ever since then, there’s always that one person that has to bring negativity. An Instagram user named Tatianagalaxy couldn’t resist and wrote, “I hate their names so bad.”
Please leave it to Rihanna not to let that go unnoticed. She effortlessly killed the shade with those words: “Ok, Tatiana.” Short, sharp, oozing in her signature nonchalant confidence, it was the ideal dismissal of an unprovoked comment. There is no lengthy explanation or anger; it is just Rihanna doing what Rihanna does, brushing off the hate with the energy of royalty; who knows, she has no obligation to explain herself to anybody.
This isn’t the first time Rihanna has gone viral this year for shutting down unwelcome opinions. But she recently delivered another mic-drop moment when a reporter tried to create drama over A$AP Rocky’s previous legal problems. At a public event, a journalist approached Rocky and asked: “How do you feel about your former friend A$AP Relli (Terell Ephron), who testified against you in your 2021 gun assault case? Before Rocky could respond, Rihanna lifted her hand and quickly silenced the question with a simple response: “How do you think it feels?” making clear she wasn’t here to play any games.”
Rihanna’s skill in taking over a room or a comment section with just a few words makes her iconic. And whether she’s shutting down nosy questions or gently dismissing unsolicited opinions, she does it with the utmost grace. Regardless, when it comes to the names of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s children, nothing else matters except that it reflects their creativity and personal significance. And if someone doesn’t like it? Well, Rihanna has done it.
So, to whom it may concern with your little comments coming for Rihanna’s parenting decisions (for her kids): consider this your warning: she’s not one to mess with, and neither are her babies!
