Sauce Walka, a Houston rapper, is grieving the death of his friend and TSF signee Sayso P, who was killed in Memphis on March 22. Speaking on Instagram, Sauce Walka offered a touching tribute while providing details about his final moments with his loved one.
The emotional posts came with a collection of fond memories, as Sauce Walka opened up about his heartbreak in the caption. "No words or tears can explain the loss I am feeling!" he wrote. Yet even in his sadness, he implied that Sayso P's decision to step outside for one final smoke proved the fateful mistake that contributed to his living goodbye.
Sauce Walka says some members of TSF, including himself, tried to get Sayso P to wait before sparking a blunt that would be his last. They felt it safer to remain inside until their security detail and other entourage members arrived.
"Splatt, I wish your fat ahh listened to me and stayed inside the room," Sauce Walka complained. "I said, we can smash that blunt after we get through security, and the rest of our family pulled up… But you a big-headed as nigga, blood, and you know Ima ride with you to the wheels fall off regardless. We laugh together, we cry together.
Struggling with remorse, Sauce Walka also acknowledged partial culpability for Sayso P's presence in Memphis that night. He explained that the rapper might have been on vacation in the Dominican Republic; otherwise, if Sauce had not finally come to see the Memphis trip, it would have been a plan that had been in development for years.
In his emotional tribute, Sauce Walka shared thoughts on Sayso P's journey with TSF while reminiscing about their bond. "It's been four years since @tsf1punch_10100 put you on the family... We were mashing and splashing together city to city, hood to hood, with their sticks, RAP HUSTLING," he wrote.
Though heartbroken, Sauce Walka took the time to note Sayso P's accomplishments, noting that he departed from earth a "RICH YOUNG BOSS." He promised to ensure the world understood who Sayso P was and to stop violence in the community.
"I hope one day we all stop taking lives from our communities and start to enjoy and build better futures for our cultures," he wrote. "But the streets are the streets, so I take what comes with being your big brother."
While Sauce Walka and Sayso P's family mourn the loss of their beloved friend, Memphis law enforcement is reportedly hard at work doing everything possible to apprehend the individuals responsible for the crime. Newly released surveillance video footage shows the deadly shooting in progress, and officials with the Memphis Police Department have said the attack was targeted, not random.
"So we're confident that vehicle has left the downtown area. We want everyone to be on the lookout for this white vehicle," MPD Assistant Chief Don Crowe told WREG. "We currently have homicide detectives on scene. Our detectives from the crime scene investigation unit are on the scene investigating. I hope we will be able to develop suspect information quickly."
As Sauce Walka's heartfelt words spread across social media maps, the legacy of Sayso P lives on through the people whose lives he touched, his music, his friends, and his fans. The loss serves as another reminder of some of the dangers in the hip-hop community.
