Azealia Banks has never been shy about saying whatever comes to her mind. The "212" rapper, known as much for her ornamental social media introspections as her reshaped music, logged on to X (formerly Twitter) with a scathing confession: voting for Donald Trump was, in her words, "a f###### mess."
It's a harsh, though not entirely out-of-character, turnaround for Banks, who has had a long, sometimes unruly relationship with political approvals. She didn't sugarcoat it in her now-private posts. "Ok, I think it's time everyone face that voted for Trump that we made a f###### Mess," she wrote before going on to criticize the former president's handling of the pandemic, referring to his presidency as an "absolute disaster."

Banks called Trump "petty and vindictive," and while he acknowledged that those qualities might have their place in some context, they're not precisely the best qualities one would want in the person responsible for the welfare of "billions of people damn near the entire world."
In classic Azealia fashion, she urged fun at the larger impression of political power. "No one on earth is afraid of crazy old white man rage," she announced, saying the archetype needed a major rebrand. "Like China is just DUNKING on everyone right now," she joked, expressing her frustration with world affairs.
After years of flip-flopping on her political beliefs, her confession is surprising. Banks surprised fans back in 2016 when she endorsed Trump despite calling him "evil like America," only to abandon it after the infamous Access Hollywood tape broke. "I made a big mistake. Women's rights are important," she conceded.
She appeared at a Trump rally in Florida, praised his "transparency," and poked at President Joe Biden, saying at one point that his presidency was "elder abuse." Then, just before election day, she reversed course again, endorsing Kamala Harris because of Elon Musk, "He's dangerous," she said, labeling the tech billionaire "a liar, thief, and cheater."
But in the most Azealia Banks twist, she posted a picture of her ballot later with the caption: "Lmao, I lied. I voted for Trump yesterday."
Now, with the dust settling and her posts locked, she appears to be preparing to acknowledge what she termed a "major mess." Whether this is a new chapter in her political worldview or just another chapter in the always-volatile story of Azealia Banks remains to be seen. She'll be the one to tell us loud, unfiltered, unapologetically Azealia.
