Toronto's Baka recently questioned Kendrick Lamar with a lyric; the "OVO" Sound rapper had much to say. In a heated appearance on the "Hot Freestyle" podcast, Baka responded to Kendrick's bar from the song "Not Like Us," where Lamar raps, "Baka got a weird case, why is he around?" a lyric that quickly went viral online and incited debate. The line alluded to Baka's legal troubles from 2014 and caused quite a stir.

Baka, a longtime friend and collaborator of Drake's, responded bluntly. He dismissed Kendrick's implication as "ludicrous," serving his most stinging rebuttal to that lyric, which many had started meeting around social media. It placed the value of his role in the OVO Sound camp as part of the goal for Baka; this wasn't just a case of protecting his name.

But Baka added that Drake had reached out to him during the storm with some advice. Baka said Drake urged him to remain composed and "not go back and forth for the world" about the situation. He laughed off the accusation, saying he's well beyond his past errors and that the public should be looking at his present and future, not ancient rumors or complaints. With a clear sense of resolve, Baka said he was here to stay, and  Kendrick's lyrics couldn't move him from his perch in the OVO fold.
