Yella Beezy Walks Free on Bail After Arrest in Mo3 Murder Case

The Texas rapper was released from jail on a hefty six-figure bond in connection to recent arrest for the November 2020 murder of fellow Dallas artist Mo3. The "That's On Me" rapper, born Markies Conway, had his prison release granted on Friday (March 28) when a judge reduced his $2 million bond to $750,000.

And Yella Beezy's path to bail was hardly without drama. His grandmother, Alma Alexander, had one of the most dramatic moments in the hearing when she took the stand and endorsed him. Fighting back tears, she spoke about the character of her grandson, calling him "a godsend" to their family.

"Markies was my first grandchild… He's been a godsend to a lot of his family members, he helps everybody," she told the court.

Her heartfelt testimony could have contributed to the judge's decision to lower the bond, but it was not without scrutiny. Alexander hesitated when asked about Yella Beezy's finances, raising eyebrows in the courtroom. Whether that indecision affected the ruling remains to be seen, but it introduced another element of suspense into an already high-profile case.

Although Yella Beezy walked out of custody, his legal woes are far from over. The judge ordered his release on strict conditions, including house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor. He also had to turn over his passport, which substantially restricted his movement.

The judge also clearly warned that any contact with witnesses or co-defendants, direct or indirect, would not be frowned upon but met with extreme consequences.

"You are not to have any contact [with witnesses], direct or indirect," the judge said. "No intimidation or harassment of any victim, witness, co-defendants. If it's you or anyone for you, it will be a problem."

We noted that Yella Beezy also got yelled at for not taking financial disclosures seriously, implying that the court still doubts what he's saying about his monetary situation.

Little did they know that none other than Yella Beezy himself would send the hip-hop community reeling when news broke that he was arrested for the hit on Mo3. Mo3, celebrated for raw storytelling and street anthems, was shot and killed on a Dallas freeway in November 2020, leaving an indelible hole in the city's rap sky.

There has been speculation for years that Yella Beezy was connected to Mo3's murder, but no formal charges have been placed on Beezy—until now. His arrest has revived discussions about the violent rivalries in Texas hip-hop and whether justice will be served in the end.

As the case unfolds, Yella Beezy is in the crosshairs. While he is out on bail, he is still facing serious charges that could alter his life forever. Now, everyone is watching to see what comes next.
