The rap mogul and heavy-handed provocateur 50 Cent couldn't help himself, once again throwing shade, this time in the direction of Fabolous, Jadakiss, and the ever-controversial Sean "Diddy" Combs.
50 scooped up a viral moment and spun it into comedy gold with a splash of truth bombs. He shared a clip from a recently recirculated 2017 episode of Drink Champs in which Diddy said many increasingly headline-raising stuff.
Diddy gets … err, in the clip, maybe a little too comfortable. From referring to host N.O.R.E. as "daddy" to telling him, "I like it when you're scrambling and scraping," the vibes went from party to bizarre in record time. But the cherry on top? When Diddy turned to Fabolous and said, "Did you miss me?" he asked why he was not going to party with him for his birthday. Fab and Jadakiss looked like they had to be anywhere else besides in that seat.
"See how they were all acting like everything normal cause they looked up to Diddy," 50 Cent wrote in the caption. "I said this here [ninja] is a fruit pop, so I'm a hater. SMH."
Never one to miss a good burn, 50 also saw the humor in the incident, calling attention to just how uncomfortable the whole thing was. But of course, it's not only about the laughs. There's a structure to his trolling; this time, it all comes in a big bow of Diddy whirlwind.
This makes Diddy so vulnerable right now, as he fends off a series of lawsuits and mounting legal trouble, that every moment from his past, especially the cringe-making ones, is being dusted down and scrutinized. And 50 is treating it like a buffet. Whether clowning the resurfaced Drink Champs moment or mocking reports that people were being paid $20 an hour to wear "Free Diddy" shirts outside the courthouse, he's turned his social media feed into a running commentary on the fall of a mogul.
Oh, and because we're dealing with 50, he also strange-AI-cute-picturized himself in one of those shirts for the gram.
Now, this Internet brewing just as 50 Cent is rumored to be in line for an industry award. It's hard to say if it's all clockwork, to troll, or a masterfully crafted combination of both, but whatever the case, he knows how to keep himself in the spotlight.
So Fabolous and Jadakiss must be kicking themselves about those sips from that 2017 interview while 50 is out here gathering views and headlines, and maybe here we go again, another goddamned trophy.
