Rapper Boosie Badazz is being heavily criticized for his comments supporting Sean "Diddy" Combs and for minimizing Cassie Ventura's brutal statement in court. Only hours after Ventura bravely detailed years of alleged abuse, manipulation, and exploitation during her 11-year relationship with Diddy, Boosie hopped on Instagram to offer his unsolicited and widely criticized feedback.
"SHE LIKED THE P### N HER MOUTH," Boosie wrote in a later-deleted all-caps post that shocked fans and detractors alike. "DON'T SEE ANY CRIMES HE HAS DONE. EVERYTHING WAS CONSENSUAL. "LOL…" SABRINA PAUSED, READING THE REPORTER'S POST, "THE SEX THRILLS N THE GIFTS AFTER…."
The deleted post's message succeeded in further minimizing Ventura's harrowing account of being drugged, forced into group sex with male escorts, and subjected to acts of degradation, which included Diddy and others urinating on Ventura.
But Boosie doubled down on X (the former Twitter), asserting, "SHE ENJOYED THE WILD SEX PARTIES N THE EXTRAVAGANT GIFTS ON THE BACKEND." He pointed out that Diddy's sex trafficking charges were faked and that we should be boiling down the situation to a "domestic abuse case."
"IM CONVINCED SHE HAD A GOOD TIME," he said after hearing detailed testimony from Ventura that included being humiliated, fearing for her safety, and being physically assaulted. "THIS WAS CONSENSUAL. SHE WAS HIS GIRLFRIEND."
"Domestic abuse and consensual do not mix," replied one user bluntly. Another added: "Trying to minimize the victim to show support for the victimizer is EXACTLY why it takes people so long to 'speak up'!!!
The outrage isn't just about the content of Boosie's comments. Still, the timing Ventura, of course, had just testified that Diddy had made her a victim in what were referred to as "freak-offs," marathon drug-fueled sex parties with multiple men where she was frequently filmed, beaten, and publicly humiliated.
Among the most horrifying things she was made to do on the road, she testified, was being made one night to allow Diddy and other people to urinate in her mouth because, she said, "I was choking too much urine in my mouth." "Sean peed on me at the same time." The experiences were "repulsive" and made her feel "disgusting" and "utterly humiliated," she added.
Cassie also disclosed that she was blackmailed with videos of these transactions and was raped when she refused to comply. She recounted getting stomped on, getting beaten, and incurring physical wounds like a black eye, all as a way to escape the cycle of violence.
The couple split in 2018, but its repercussions, what Cassie calls a "toxic," "controlling" dynamic, continue reverberating.
Though Boosie might have been hoping to stand up for a fellow artist, his remarks have only driven another spike through this fire of a cultural reckoning while underscoring how deeply victim-blaming runs in public speech.
