Ciara and Rihanna shared baby news at the 2025 Met Gala, but it had been years since they had spoken after a headline-making Twitter war in 2011. They finally put their differences aside and had the sweetest moment, all baby talk and belly laughs.
Ciara recently opened up on The Sherri Show about how surprised she was to run into Rihanna at fashion’s biggest night. But unlike in some previous episodes, the gathering was heartwarming and full of jokes about expanding families.
“She’s on baby number three now,” Ciara said coolly, referencing Rihanna’s pregnancy unveiling at the Met Gala. “We were cracking up talking about… five.”
So it turns out Ciara’s husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, accidentally took the conversation in a comedic direction. He playfully suggested the couple go for baby number five, which prompted laughter and back-and-forth plugging Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who could easily outpace the pair at baby number four.
“But she’s gotta get through the tres first,” Ciara added, allowing her comical Spanish to roll off her tongue with a smile.
For those familiar with the frozen Twitter battle these two powerhouse women waged in 2011, the moment felt like a full-circle tale of maturity and grace. Ciara clarified that the past is the past, and the two have grown personally and professionally since then.
She even said the reconnection sparked months ago when Rihanna slid into her DMs to send a heartfelt message. “She sent me a sweet DM a few months ago saying she was ‘so proud’ of me,’’ Ciara said. “I’m proud of her, too. She’s killing it in the best way.”
Both women are busy mothers struggling to balance booming careers with busy households. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are already the proud parents of two children, and their little crew is about to get bigger, so they are adding a third child to the list. Ciara, for her part, is holding it down on her end with her own four sons, Future Zahir, whom she shares with rapper Future, plus three additional little ones with Wilson: daughter Sienna Princess and sons Win Harrison and baby Amora Princess, who arrived just last December.
It was a far cry from the online feud that had fans choosing sides in their relationship over motherhood and mutual respect. There’s nothing but love between these two titans, whose lives immersed in song, motherhood, and growth have swept them back into each other’s orbit.
