50 Cent Sparks Knockout Rumors, Could the Rap Mogul Be the Next Balrog in Street Fighter Reboot?

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson may be again trading the mic for boxing gloves. The rapper, actor, and all-around mogul's fan base is flipping out after he dropped a very vague hint about being a playable character in Street Fighter's infamous brawler Balrog.

50 Cent shared a screenshot of a headline about the casting rumors on Instagram. He captioned the post: "No Days off, Let's work đź’°." Everything seems to lead back to Shreveport." And just like that, the internet had questions and theories.

According to several entertainment insiders, 50 is in serious negotiations to play Balrog in the forthcoming Street Fighter live-action remake. While no official announcement has come from the studio, the buzz about his possible casting continues to build.

Balrog is not a small role to grow into physically or otherwise. Originally a Street Fighter II character, he is a brutish thug, a fallen heavyweight boxing champ, and a henchman for the evil Shadaloo organization. Featuring pure physical power and an all-out rush-down punch locking style that is effectively synonymous with the name Balrog, it would be Balrog if there were a representation of brute strength and the harshness of the streets. He's also one of M. Bison's most ruthless enforcers, landing him a place in the franchise's long-revered "Four Heavenly Kings."

If those 50 sign on, it won't just be a flex for the reboot but another power play in Jackson's wide-ranging entertainment empire. From his career-launching role in Get Rich or Die Tryin' to his career-defining gig as executive producer and star of the Power universe, Jackson has shown he's more than capable of leaving a mark on screen.

50 Cent as Balrog is a no-brainer because Both are built like tanks. Both had difficult starts. And both possess an innate, unshakable intensity that cannot be taught. It's not hard to picture 50 channeling Balrog's raw aggression and street-ready toughness and doing it with a swagger  only he can muster.

The Street Fighter reboot is very much early in the rounds, with no release date listed. But whether or not 50 is involved and note that has not been confirmed (or has it?), he's thrown a haymaker into the hype machine. Supporters of the game, sneakerheads, and film buffs are tuning in, eager to see if the rap mogul is truly game to enter the ring.
