With an emotional and raw Instagram post, the singer and previous Love & Hip Hop: New York cast member Amina Buddafly says that with her two daughters, she is now homeless. In the wake of losing their home in Los Angeles, Amina and her girls have fled to Germany for refuge with family, a dramatic escape that she said was one of the hardest but best things they had ever done.
"Day one, waking up in Germany after losing our house in LA. We don't have a home, y'all," Amina said, revealing the emotional toll of their situation. But through the uncertainty, she drew comfort from the simple things: family and love. "Everything went in the trash, my whole life. Add for 80 percent of what we had, I didn't own anything valuable anyway, to start with," she said. "It feels good that I don't have much but have what's important, which is love."
Her brutal honesty quickly caught the attention of her ex, the father of her daughters, Peter Gunz, who publicly reacted to the post with a mix of worry and irritation. While speaking in an Instagram Live video, Peter also told his followers that those concerned about his lack of responsibility as a father send money to Amina to care for the children, and he wanted to offer some clarity to those who were concerned.
"I send Amina thousands a month," Peter said. He also revealed that he had tried to offer Amina a no-strings-attached place to stay in a rental property in Dallas, an offer she refused. "She said, 'What the hell am I going to do in Dallas? Swim?" he recalled. Continue to chill for just a little bit; give me a breather because I can't pay rent in multiple places."
Amina is currently in Germany with family, but Peter stressed he is still invested and ready to assist, including paying for an Airbnb in Los Angeles, where they will be returning this month after leaning on family in Germany. "I feel a little betrayed," he said. "She knows I would never, that could never be me to leave them homeless.
The exes' relationship has played out dramatically in the public sphere, with many of their ups and downs detailed on the VH1 reality series "Love & Hip Hop." However, despite this remarkable fact, both appear to be working through the fallout with a singular focus on their daughters' welfare.
Amina has yet to respond to Peter's most recent rash of statements, but her original message conveyed a powerful sense of resilience. "We don't know what the future holds," she said, but she was determined to "figure it out" the way that she had in previous difficult periods.
For the time being, Amina and her daughters are being supported by family on the other side of the ocean, with no choice but to hope that this most difficult chapter may be the prelude to a stronger new path forward. It's a tale of loss, love, and the meaning of new beginnings, a reminder that even in life's most ordinary, everyday lows, family can be a greater light.
