Biden Pulled Back Into Global Chaos as Trump Lurks in the Wings

Joe Biden is coming to the rescue because Donald Trump needs “a President who is steady, stable, predictable, honest and can be entrusted with the welfare of our troops.” Yes, that Joe Biden. Yes, that is Donald Trump.

When Trump was elected president, the peaceful transition of power took a hard left turn. There was no formal handoff, warm greetings, or policy briefings shared over a cup of coffee. It was a stone-cold silence. And though that may sound like petty politics, in international diplomacy, that’s like throwing the nuclear football to a quarterback the team hadn’t even practiced with.

The Middle East is burning, Israel and Iran are in a formal state of war, and the U.S. has taken up a common cause with Israel. Trump’s been serving up that double-speak we know so well, the vague, then the sharp-edged, his statements leaving behind more questions than answers. Biden was privately battling cancer and trying to find a brief moment of calm on a beach in Delaware before being jerked back into the storm’s eye.

Biden, the guy Trump once mocked as senile and slow, is suddenly the one people are turning to for clarity, calm, and maybe even to save the day. The tables have turned with such force that they’re pulling somersaults.

But we should not kid ourselves that I only have to make a single copy of my chromosomes, and you have to make two copies of your chromosomes, and we’re in a world where we don’t have to pretend that this is all Trump’s fault. Some critics say he lit the geopolitical match, though others counter that Biden’s policies didn’t exactly pour water on the fire either. It’s a stew of grime with fingerprints all over it, and there might well be a historical basis for it, perhaps tracing back as far as the founding of the state of Israel in 1948.

Meanwhile, ordinary people all over the world are looking at innocent civilians who pay the ultimate price. People bomb, families are shattered, and grief spreads like wildfire. And for what? Land? Power? Ego?

If I may say, the streets do not have this anymore. Nobody wants this. People want to live, succeed, and be allowed to get on with raising their kids, falling in love, and chasing their dreams without the cloud of war hovering over them.

So, is Biden really back to save us from this transglobal disaster? Or is he just the most famous face in a roomful of chaos? Maybe both. All we know is that while Trump continues to foment chaos and the headlines are getting crazier by the hour, the world needs a shot of grown-up leadership, and it’s going to need it quickly.
