The rapper and YouTube star DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) has applied for a restraining order for domestic violence against singer-actress Halle Bailey, making some alarming claims about her mental health and capability to care for their 17-month-old son.
In court documents obtained by People, DDG alleges Bailey is an emotional and mental risk to their child and is asking a Los Angeles court to prohibit her from removing their son from the country, specifically referencing a planned trip to Italy. His lawyers say that if the toddler is not protected by the U.S. court system protections or granted the right to emergency intervention elsewhere, he would be exposed.
However, maybe the most troubling aspect of DDG's filing is his claim about what happened after he and Bailey fought. She left their home with a firearm and was later discovered outside, both "in a bad state of mind and incoherent, possibly having suicidal thoughts" with the gun still in her possession, the complaint says. He also adds that this was not an isolated incident of emotional agitation, claiming Bailey has made "repeated threats of suicide and self-harm."
The filing, submitted just weeks after Bailey was also granted temporary physical and legal custody of their child in May, was filed after her serious claims of physical and emotional abuse against DDG. The divergent claims paint a troubling picture of a continuing discord between the two parents, whose rocky relationship has had no shortage of public drama.
Bailey turned to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly shame DDG for live-broadcasting their little one without her permission while she was out of town. "I was not informed or asked," she wrote. "I'm super upset that I had my baby in front of millions of people.
These moments have kept the couple's co-parenting war from entirely falling out of the public eye. They are now compounded by the latest court filing, which adds another ugly layer to an already contentious custody battle.
The court has not yet set a hearing on the restraining order, but the allegations themselves are likely to draw further public and legal scrutiny as the case progresses.
Even though the court will eventually follow the truth and decide what's in the child's best interest, The road ahead for Halle Bailey and DDG is a hardball game, and the stakes, especially for their little boy, can't go any higher.
As fans and followers watch this wrenching development unfold, it reminds them of the emotional intensity that often accompanies celebrity relationships when they collapse under public scrutiny.
