Elon Musk just fired off a missile in the gulf that continues to widen between billionaires and political giants, and this time, it wasn’t one of his SpaceX side projects. The Tesla-heavy social media behemoth nuked former President Donald Trump in a tweet Thursday, June 5th, that would be hard to top as the single most shocking shot 2025 has taken up to that moment.
“@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein tapes,” Musk tweeted, matter of fact. “That is why they haven’t been released. Have a nice day, DJT!”
But Musk continued, “Mark this post for the future, and the truth will come out.” Like him or hate him? I figure you see on the screen that there’s no being polite about it anymore. Elons are not playing along.

The “Epstein files” to which Musk refers are a still-hazy collection of documents, evidence, and testimony assembled through several investigations of Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender whose ties to well-known elites continue to form the stuff of dark legend. Although many files have been made public in court over the years, notably in Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell, many others have been kept under seal. Musk’s claim that Trump’s name is on those sealed pages, so the truth still has not been revealed in the light of day.
The tension between Musk and Trump has been like a high-pressure cooker, and now, with this current twist, it’s a full-blooded spuming in the face. Their spat flared in defense of Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” a legislative abomination featuring gut-wrenching rollbacks of Medicaid, plunging gobs of tax relief into the pockets of the wealthy, and fat injections of spending aimed at beefing up border security. Musk, who briefly led Trump’s cost-cutting task force, decried the bill in no uncertain terms as “a disgusting abomination” that gutted much-needed clean energy incentives in favor of inflated, old-school spending.
In typical Trumpian style, he clapped back, alleging that Musk was getting ready to repeat it because it’s about to become much less unbelievable being a sore loser over federal subsidies and promising to nix lucrative government contracts with Musk’s companies. “The quickest way to save money on our budget is to terminate Elliot’s government subsidies and all other contracts. I never understood why Biden didn’t do it!”
Musk, never one to miss a sucker punch, offered a response dripping with icy sarcasm: “In response to the President’s statement that to ground my government contracts, @SpaceX will be doing a decommission of the Drago spacecraft immediately.”
What began as a policy dispute has become a bare-knuckle brawl with personal vendettas, political shade, and the possibility of explosive accusations. However, whether Musk’s Epstein bombshell has any factual basis or is just a high-stakes power play is still to be determined. This isn’t just a Twitter brawl any longer but a fight for public trust, legacy, and narrative control, and neither man appears willing to blink first.
