Ely Goa bends time and reality in "No Time No Space"

Ely Goa asks you to stop, float, and dissolve yourself with her new tune, "No Time No Space." It's the second release from her burgeoning solo project, and it's a trip of a journey itself, a fragile foray into a dimension devoid of clocks or maps. With "No Time, No Space," Ely Goa remains a standard bearer of music that's not musically bold but emotionally impactful. It is a song to wander by, to dream by, a song for finding solace in sound. No matter where you are, the moment you hit playtime, time stands still, space disappears, and Ely Goa is your guide into the endless unknown.

Best known as half of the French duo Elea, Ely Goa is experienced in sculpting deep, emotional soundscapes. And so, while she continues to carve out a fresh trail, mostly recently in the form of a new collaboration with JB Dunckel of revered duo Air, she's releasing "No Time No Space" as both a self-contained statement and a gateway into her sprawling cosmos.

"No Time No Space" is the sort of song you don't so much hear as experience in layers, in echoes, in the hush between waking life and dream. Atmospheric trip-hop and downtempo electronica are heard, and fans of the genres will likely listen to echoes of its pioneers. Yet, both figuratively and literally, Ely Goa's voice is entirely her own. There's an uncommon vulnerability here, tucked into a vintage and futuristic sound.

"No Time No Space" is a hypnotic concoction of vintage synths, deep electronic bass lines, and Ely's ethereal voice china gliding silk-like through the mire. Its tone is comforting yet mysterious, telling a poetic story of spiritual navigation through life's winding corridors and ultimately toward the light. The song pulses glacially, with ethereal grace, not to a climax but to a feeling of floating somewhere past the physical, gravity, and noise. And if this is only the second step of her solo project, it's safe to assume we're in for a transcendent journey.
