The Migos rapper Offset disappeared from both his Instagram and X’s accounts this week, and fans went into overdrive after discovering what they already suspected to be true: He and Cardi B have gone from rocky to explosive.
It all fell apart over the weekend when a seemingly innocuous photo became all-out family drama. A picture emerged of Offset’s son, Wave, with hair that looked eerily similar to that of NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
The comparison did not play well with the Atlanta rapper. He made a chilling warning in a now-deleted post: “Now when somebody dies for playing with my son, then call me the crash out,” he wrote. “Idc how I look, I’m trolling wit my kid, end of story,” he wrote.
That line alone was enough to make people double-take, but it was just the start. Things got more heated when videos emerged of Cardi B and Diggs chilling on a yacht the same weekend. It could have been just another vain celeb moment, but it was timed. Diggs, signed with the New England Patriots, was one of the most notable absences from organized team activities. Head coach Mike Vrabel didn’t like that, nor did Offset.
The photo, the party, and the online chatter ignited Offset’s online presence. He got off frustrated-sounding posts, then disappeared from social media in a flash, accounts deleted, profiles scrubbed. And just like that, one of hip-hop’s signature voices fell silent.
But Cardi B turned the X Spaces into a July 4 fireworks display. In a clapback to end all clapbacks, she said during a fiery screed that she wanted Offset to “die slow.”
Six years of marriage, three children, and now public spats are closely observed by everyone from fans to football coaches. Offset and Cardi’s breakup hasn’t exactly been peaceful. With court filings now revealing that Offset is requesting spousal support, it’s become evident that the separation is not just emotional but legal, public, and increasingly personal.
On Wednesday, Offset continued to maintain his break on all social media. There were no posts, comments, or presence, which speaks volumes for someone who has played out his life in the public eye for decades.
Whether this is a moment of reflection or yet another beat in their public symphony of highs and lows, Offset’s deactivation is not just a tech move. And in this one, the drama isn’t cooling off soon.
