Tory Lanez is recovering from a brutal prison stabbing where he nearly died, is doing very well, and will be fully recovered soon – and now, his camp is calling out TMZ for what they claim is a terrible, irresponsible act that only further complicates his battle. The same media outlet recently ran an interview with Santino Casio, the inmate who left Tory with 14 stab wounds in a California penitentiary, and Tory's spokesperson pulled out all the stops in blasting the platform for furthering what they call a "false narrative."
Casio, who is currently serving life on a murder charge, spoke to TMZ over the phone and insisted he stabbed Tory in self-defense after hearing through the grapevine that the rapper had put a bounty on him. The interview portrayed a picture that Tory's camp asserts is dangerously inaccurate, especially since the artist was still in the hospital with collapsed lungs, recuperating from the violent assault.

Tory's spokesperson, Diana London, shot back with a blistering response. "TMZ, out of all people, was able to give this disgusting, vile human being a platform just to lie and spew out negativity when this man was at a hospital bed fighting for his life," she said. London called the interview out of line and TMZ for allowing Casio a manslaughter conviction on his record to promote "hearsay" about Tory rather than the details about how he's doing.
Casio subsequently insisted that he and Tory were friendly with each other before the situation turned violent, claiming Tory pulled out a weapon and threatened him first. He also claimed he was stabbed in the leg during the fight, and he was trying to defend himself. But London has quickly dismissed these suggestions, saying Tory had no reason to offend someone, considering he already had a stress-free legal team to secure his release.
"Why in the hell would Tory want to kill somebody when he literally could be pardoned or just go to prison and get out?" she asked, stressing that Tory had nothing to lose.
Tory Lanez is currently in prison, serving a 10-year sentence after being found guilty in 2022 of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet after a party in the Hollywood Hills. His team still maintains his innocence, pointing to inconsistencies in the case and comparing him to other wrongfully convicted figures, such as the Central Park Five.
"Tory consented to the DNA," London said, "because they asked, and he agreed knowing that his prints were not on that gun. It wasn't his gun."
And it even hit the political eardrums: support for Tory's cause. Only last month, Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna demanded that Tory be released and that California Governor Gavin Newsom look into the 2020 shooting.
Once they did, Tory's team launched a website 36 hours later. Com,* which it said would show fresh evidence of his innocence. However, Megan Thee Stallion's attorney, Alex Spiro, dismissed the site stunt meant to sway public opinion.
"Tory Lanez's team is not really able to keep their story straight," Spiro said. "But one week they're blaming Kelsey Harris for shooting Megan and the next they're saying Megan just stepped on some glass. They continue to recycle old trial evidence as if it were new information a feeble effort to deceive the public."
As he says, Tory continues to recover behind bars. The fight over truth and perspective rages on, with his team demanding respect for what they maintain is a flawed system victim and calling out media platforms like TMZ for what they see as irresponsible perpetuation of fake stories.
