In a heated back-and-forth that has raised eyebrows throughout the music world, Akon has publicly accused a former colleague, Be.I, of being a full-blown scam artist. But Be.I isn't going to take it lying down, he's hitting right back with his allegations, and they're getting personal.
It all started this week when the "Locked Up" rapper shared a steamy video online featuring a photo of Be.I, clearly calling him out.
"Ain't look at this face," Akon started, striking his are-you-kidding-me tone to significant effect. "He goes by the name of Be.I. He's a fraud, a scammer, and just an imposter, a straight-up leech."

According to Akon, Be.I is a the fellow who smiles in your face and gains your confidence, and before you know it, he's picking your pocket. He implored all those who've worked with Be.I must act quickly and attempt to recover the funds, because, in the words of Akon, "he's not going to deliver."
Just so that we're clear, Akon also ensured that his business entities were distanced from the accused scammer, Be.I not affiliated with Konvict Muzik, Kon Live Distribution, or any official entities related to Akon. He painted Be.I a "superfan" for sneaking his way into people's good graces, too, pretending to be part of Akon's inner circle.
"This man is wicked," Akon added, shaking his head. "If you've conducted business with him under the Konvict umbrella, you've been scammed.
But before fans had a chance to process the allegations, Be fully. Be.I shot back, and he came back, receipts in hand, with another side of the story.
In a series of videos, Be.I challenged Akon's account of events by sharing video clips of none other than Akon wishing him a happy birthday, but hardly the behavior one would expect from a purported scammer or "superfan." Be.I conceded that I had done some "dumb s###," but deftly pivoted to pointing out Akon's failed $6 billion Akon City project in Senegal. He even said he helped clean up some of Akon's messes, hinting that the Grammy-nominated singer has his skeletons to deal with.
But perhaps the biggest twist? Be.I said their falling out had nothing to do with business, but it had to do with a woman.
He claimed he was in a casual relationship with a woman who later fell in love with Akon. That, he says, changed everything. "He was so different after that," Be.I declared that other people in Akon's circle have done way worse without getting publicly dragged.
After nearly a decade of unpaid bills and incomplete developments, Akon City is now officially a dead project, announced by the government of his native Senegal, where Akon has been a citizen. Their accusations are sure to fuel further heat in what is already a contentious feud.
