Cassie Ventura’s Legal Team Says “Keep Diddy Behind Bars” as Bail Battle Brews

Just hours after a federal jury delivered a mixed verdict in Diddy’s high-profile trial,  Cassie Ventura’s attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, filed a blistering statement, arguing with the court to deny the rap mogul’s release before sentencing. And the letter wasn’t legalese; it was a personal appeal to safeguard Cassie and others who came forward.

“We are counsel for Casandra Ventura (‘Ms Ventura’) and respectfully submit that Mr. Combs should not be released pending sentencing on his two convictions,” the letter began. Wigdor was able to cite a federal law that requires a person to be held under these circumstances and emphasized that Ventura is afraid to allow Diddy to continue to pose a threat, not just to her but to any other victim who testified.

The atmosphere is electric as the verdict is announced. Diddy was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, serious charges in themselves, but the jury rejected some of the heavier charges against Diddy, like sex trafficking and racketeering. However, some may consider it a partial victory for the defense.

“This entire criminal process began because our client, Cassie Ventura, dared to come forward and file her civil complaint in November 2023,” Wigdor said in a statement that resonated beyond the courtroom. His words captured the bittersweet nature of the moment for Cassie, who had wished for wider accountability. However, she and her team are also trying to stay focused on the progress that has been made.

By taking a stand himself, Wigdor said, Ventura not only triggered this legal avalanche but also permitted others to tell the truth. “Cassie made an indelible impact on the entertainment industry and the fight for justice,” he said. “She showed obvious strength and shined a spotlight on what happens with powerful men in our orbit.”

Ventura’s message isn’t just about one man but about a system that has permitted unchecked bad behavior to thrive for far too long. Her battle, as her lawyer underscored, is not over. “This case shows that it is way past time for change, and we will keep fighting for survivors.”

Currently, Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting a decision on whether he will be released on bail. However, that decision, scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, could significantly alter the course of the case.
