Hot 97 Host Nessa Nitty Torches Roc Nation in Scathing New Video

Nessa Nitty blasts Roc Nation in a new fiery video that has the Hip-Hop world, as well as the sports world, chattering, longtime radio personality and activist Nessa Diab (aka Nessa Nitty from Hot 97) has gone all the way in on Roc Nation by drawing an direct line between the narratives of rap star Nicki Minaj and her beau, quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The one recently posted on X over the weekend, titled "Not New to This," is anything but subtle in its near-10 minutes. Nessa doesn't just vent anger, but anger with a purpose. Or as she sees it, Roc Nation has been a puppet master behind the scenes, plotting smear campaigns against anyone who doesn't want to fall in step; First Colin and now Nicki.

"It just triggered me," Nessa says in the video. "They did it to Colin and they're doing it to her."

She's referring to Nicki Minaj's weeks-long public allegations against Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez and JAY-Z, which have reverberated across social media. The Queens-born hip-hop star accused the entertainment company of stalking, harassment, and defamation, an accusation that Nessa says sounds all too familiar.

It all starts, for Nessa, in 2019; that's what happened when Roc Nation made a controversial pact with the NFL last year, branded as a deal to collaborate on entertainment and social justice. But to many, including Nessa and Kaepernick, it was a betrayal that mitigated the league's blackballing of the former 49ers quarterback.

"JAY-Z wasn't speaking to Colin when he did that deal," Nessa says in the video. "They used that relationship to make it look like Colin was the problem."

She gets even deeper, narrating a personal memory: eavesdropping on a phone call between Jay-Z and Kaepernick after the deal was announced. "Colin said he was not cool with that. He felt blindsided. And I heard it," she adds, her voice serrated with emotion.

The idea, according to Nessa, was to make Kaepernick seem problematic or unappreciative to "switch the… A Month After Photo Scandal Broke, NFL Was At Kaepernick's Camp A MONTH AGO-Now NFL Has 'Changed Mind.' He was ready. Every day he was training," she says. "They had to pretend like he was the issue so they wouldn't lose control of this story."

Now, she says, it's happening to Nicki Minaj; "I felt myself in her posts," Nessa explains, aligning her and Nicki's fights as part of a larger, more dangerous game being played behind closed doors.

The video doesn't appear to have evoked a public response from JAY-Z, Perez, or Roc Nation, but the silence is only going to add fuel to the fire. As for what's next, Nessa says Colin Kaepernick will be revealing even more behind the scenes in an upcoming documentary series.
