Master P Claps Back at Mia X Fallout, ‘Even Jesus Had Betrayers’

Southern rap kingpin Master P has recently opened up about his parting of ways from longtime collaborator Mia X, only days before he heads out to perform one last time at the Essence Festival. This week, the No Limit general hit social media with a post called “Say Goodbye to the Bad Guy,” in which he addressed the swirling controversy from Mia X’s very public departure from the performance. Though he never uses her name, the message is loud and clear: Master P is not happy.

“I was just like, ‘You know what, I’ll pay her whatever she wants,’” P wrote. “What we’re doing just to get satisfaction for that is huge.”

Mia X, the First Lady of No Limit, announced she won’t be performing on the July 6, 2025, Essence Fest bill, and instead posted a laundry list of issues: no rehearsal time, last-minute contract talks, and being promoted for the show without all terms worked out. Her message underscored the importance of professionalism and the protection of Black women in the music industry, even as she acknowledged the hurt that walking away could cause.

But for Master P, a public disagreement, even betrayal, felt like a slap in the face after years of affirmation and reciprocation. “I’ve been giving back to our communities for over 25 years… put artists on… gave them opportunities that I fought for, so people could see the potential, signed to me because I believe you are great, and guess what? “And I still showed love.”

That love isn’t returned by the one-time man who helped build an empire from the South. Although Mia X had raised red flags about miscommunication and respect, P fired back strongly, categorically defending the show’s planning and financial offers.

“If my management has been communicating with artists themselves for years and paying for shows that they’ve put together, how is it not good communication?” he questioned. “And how is it disrespectful to reserve an offer that is more money than the artist has ever been paid for a show?”

But the sting of his post was a spiritual comparison that landed high: “The disciples did Jesus dirty, so I know what they’ll try to do me.” It was a strong and polarizing statement that served to highlight just how deeply Master P is fed up with those who used to sit in his inner circle.

And with time winding down until his Essence Festival swan song, Master P seems to have one thing on his mind: keeping his head high and energy up. “I’m more focused on coaching and making an impact,” he said. “We gon’ turn up one more time for Essence. Salute to all my REAL Soldiers.

The final performance, on July 6, 2025, in New Orleans, will inevitably bear the weight of celebration and struggle. What should have been a full-circle moment is shadowed by an emotional undertow, one last, thorny chapter in the No Limit saga.
