In a twist straight out of a political-legal drama, hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is still holding out hope for a presidential pardon from none other than Donald Trump. Yes, that's Trump, the same man who recently called Diddy "sort of half-innocent" and made it pretty clear that clemency probably isn't in the cards.
But that hasn't stopped Diddy's legal team from knocking on every possible door, including Mar-a-Lago's. According to attorney Nicole Westmoreland, who is working alongside Marc Agnifilo and others on Diddy's defense, they've indeed reached out to Trump's camp. No beating around the bush, but they're hoping the former president might dust off his pardon powers once more.

Why Trump? Well, their history goes back. Diddy and Trump were apparently "cool" once upon a time before politics put a wedge between them. Trump, in an interview with Newsmax, even reminisced about better days with the music mogul. But Diddy's past criticism of Trump during his presidency may be coming back to haunt him.
"When I ran for office, he was very hostile," Trump recalled. "It's hard, you know, like, we're human beings… and he made some terrible statements."
Still, Trump didn't fully close the door. "He essentially, I guess, is sort of half-innocent," he said cryptically. "It makes it more difficult to proceed." Translation? Maybe, but probably not.
Despite the cold shoulder, Diddy remains… well, Diddy, ever the dreamer. His attorney told CNN, "I think that Mr. Combs is a very hopeful person, and I believe that he remains hopeful."
It's been a tough year for the music mogul. Diddy's been behind bars since September 2024, after being convicted on two prostitution-related counts. He was cleared of the more explosive racketeering and sex trafficking charges, but those two convictions were enough to keep him locked up. He has now been denied bail four times, most recently on August 4, when Judge Arun Subramanian rejected a $50 million bail proposal.
Diddy's legal team tried to sweeten the deal, promising he'd hole up in his Miami mansion and only fly to New York for court. But the judge wasn't convinced.
Now, the clock is ticking. Sentencing is set for October 3. And while Trump hasn't officially ruled out a pardon, he has said he wants to wait on more details before making any final decision. So Diddy, for now, remains in limbo watching, waiting, and maybe even praying for a miracle from a former ally-turned-political wildcard. It's not exactly the fairy tale ending he might have hoped for, but if there's one thing Diddy's always done, it's keep the faith, even when the odds are stacked.
