Time is the great healer, and this reworking by Ferdinand Rennie of his 2010 classic "Someone to Remember Me" is a beautiful demonstration of that. A profoundly personal ballad, after over a decade, Ferdinand returned to the studio with longtime collaborator Alan Vukelic to reimagine it in vivid and dynamic form. The result is a contemporary polish of a track that still captures the heart of what made the original sing.
This time around isn't a re-do; it's a riper gem, one that's been polished by added years of seasoning and artistic maturation. "Someone to Remember Me (2025 Version)" is a mature whisky; it mellows control over black summer grey memories of the dark corners of every bar mirror, around a lyric few can ask: "Who will remember me?" Featuring that voice of experience which comes from years on the circuit and lessons accrued, it brings a new layer to the tune.
Born in Austria but now resident on Scotland's west coast, Ferdinand Rennie has notched up decades of experience on stage and in the studio. Throughout his career, he has appeared on European TV, starred on stage in productions ranging from Les Misérables to Jesus Christ Superstar, and performed for royalty in Monte Carlo. But it's his access to listeners that is perhaps his greatest asset and the heart of this new release.
With "Someone to Remember Me (2025 Version)," Ferdinand is ushering us into a new phase of his music career. A good reminder that the tales they weave don't always hit their stride on the first go-round. It is a wonderful ballad that will be a new fave for fans and naysayers alike.
