Americana singer-songwriter Andy Branton delivers a powerful emotional impact with his latest single, "Livin' After Losin' You". With this evocative new work, Branton captures their aftermath, the heavy stillness, the yearning, and, ultimately, the flicker of strength to keep going. "Livin’ After Losin’ You” is a meditation on survival, love and the human spirit’s capacity to start over.
Penned in the isolation of a COVID-locked-down world, Branton reached out to songwriting pal and Mobile-bred Alabama native Eric Erdman for help with the tune, whom he met at the Black Warrior Songwriters Festival some years ago. Separated by distance, the two reconnected digitally to write a song that is personal but universal. “Livin’ After Losin’ You” is a tale too many people know too well, the battle to figure out how to live when someone you love isn’t around anymore.
Branton neither speeds through the pain nor bandages over the loss. Instead, he leans into it, allowing every lyric to hang there in the air, weighted with raw emotion and quiet fortitude. His soulful, warm vocals and earthy Americana instrumentation create a space that feels like a chat between old mates, one that acknowledges the pain but insists healing is never out of reach. What Andy Branton does with this release is remind us that he’s not just a storyteller, he lives his stories, absorbs them and invites the listeners to come join him.
