The 9:9 Band proclaims freedom in “Break Every Chain”

The 9:9 Band from Farmington, New Mexico, presents its debut album, and its opening track, “Break Every Chain,” reflects its roots and mission. The band, which began at 9:9 Ministries in 2012, has spent more than a decade leading worship through song locals, now expanding to an even larger stage.

“Break Every Chain” is what it says on the label, a song of deliverance, recovery, and triumph. The band leans into their collective identity, making a worship anthem that’s never about one person yet somehow so intimate. The lyrics themselves gesture toward chains broken and freedom in hand, much like the central Christian image of resurrection and rebirth.

The song quickly builds with purpose. It begins intimately, almost like a prayer softly whispered, and then swells into supersonic power-chord choruses that demand to be sung in unison voices. The setting reflects the message chains dropping, burdens being lifted, and hearts being emancipated. It’s the sort of song meant to be felt physically, emotionally, as heard.
