Diddy’s Defense in Jeopardy as CNN Shuts Down His ‘Altered Video’ Claims

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal woes are taking another hit; this time, it’s CNN doing the calling. The media giant categorically dismissed Diddy’s allegations that surveillance footage in which he attacked his ex-girlfriend Cassie had been altered or destroyed in an adamant response to AllHipHop. On Thursday (March 13), CNN set the record straight, and frantic Diddy’s defense team was scrambling.

The fight over it centers on damning surveillance footage that first became public in May 2024, depicting an alleged attack against Cassie. The shocking video shows Diddy hitting her multiple times, pulling her across the room, and even stomping on her. The news blared the footage, sending shockwaves through the industry and prompting the embattled mogul to offer a rare and humbling public apology.

“My behavior on that video is inexcusable,” Diddy said in a video statement that could now prove a significant obstacle for his defense. “I make no excuses for my actions in that video. I was disgusted when I did it then, and I’m disgusted now. I did, and I found professional support. I started seeing a therapist and going to rehab. I had to pray to God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry.”

Despite that acknowledgment, Diddy’s legal eagles, led by the high-profile attorney Marc Agnifilo, seek to bar the footage from his upcoming trial. That CNN intentionally doctored the video to make the attack appear worse than it was. But CNN is not having any of that.

“CNN did not tamper with the video or destroy the original copy of the video, which was kept by the source. CNN highlighted the story regarding the video several months before Combs’ arrest,” a spokesperson for the network said, brushing off the accusing words with a calm and logical retort.

Cassie’s lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, wasted no time lashing out at the latest legal maneuvering, calling it a last-ditch attempt to escape accountability.

“It’s not shocking that Combs would make this disingenuous argument to prevent the disturbing video from being played for the jury in the pending trial,” Wigdor told TMZ. “I am confident that this video accurately and fairly depicts what happened, will be entered into evidence … and Combs will be held responsible for his depravity.”

Facing serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting individuals to engage in prostitution, with his trial set for May, Diddy is being rechallenged. Prosecutors have cited the video as key evidence that speaks for itself about his alleged behavior.

Now, burdened by CNN’s unwavering position, Diddy’s effort to discredit the footage will likely fall short. Whether or not the court admits it into evidence remains to be seen, but one thing is sure: his path to acquittal just got much more difficult.
