JRtheBand drops a haunting anthem of revenge in "Beautiful Ruse"

Some wounds never fully heal, particularly those that replay in our heads on a loop. JRtheBand's new single, "Beautiful Ruse," is a cinematic deep-dive into the intoxicating pull of vengeance. "Beautiful Ruse" soundtracking an essential scene in a film: a dimly lit bar, fingers curled around a glass, regret, and retaliation hanging in the air.

Penned and performed in one-man-band style by Jeremy aka JRtheBand (no, he's eager to point out, it's not a band), "Beautiful Ruse" is his 18th release to date, yet another visceral proto-pop haul in a burgeoning discography. This time, he gets all too familiar: someone caught up in a revenge fantasy involving liquor and hurt, the kind of passion that leads to ruin.

"Beautiful Ruse" is a song you feel like a shot of whiskey, easy going down and smooth, but with a burn you don't see coming. The production has a cinematic heft, making you see it. This is why it's unsurprising that JR has his eyes on the sync licensing world, wanting to get his music into film and TV where it belongs.

But even outside Hollywood, "Beautiful Ruse" has its weight. The storytelling sucks you in, the melody keeps you there, and the feelings well; those are your problem to grapple with long after the song has gone out. If a song was ever written for someone who enjoyed watching a story unfold in real-time, JRtheBand has done it again.
