Kim Kardashian Faces Heartbreak as O.J. Simpson’s Estate Blocks Bible Buyback

Kim Kardashian is no stranger to high-profile legal battles, but this one is personal. The reality star and business mogul recently set out to recover a significant family heirloom, her late father Robert Kardashian’s personalized Bible, which he had given to O.J. Simpson during one of the most notorious trials in American history. But her sincere attempt to privately keep the prized remembrance has been rebuffed, putting her up against a volatile online auction instead.

The Bible in question isn’t just any book. It’s a personalized copy of The Living Bible that Robert Kardashian gifted to Simpson in 1994, not long after the former NFL star’s arrest for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Inside, Robert wrote a sentimental inscription designed to comfort the soul of his old friend through the trial of the century:

“O.J., This book will help. God loves you, and he shall speak to you with his words. Read this book every day. You will not be able to do everything. Nonetheless, God has a specific plan for your life. You are his child; he will work through you again. I love you, and God loves you.’

For Kim, the Bible is not an artifact from the past but a physical remnant of her father’s legacy. Robert Kardashian, who died in 2003, was a close confidant of Simpson and played a pivotal part in the case against him. Owning the Bible would be a way for Kim to have a piece of her father’s history close, but that sentimental wish has encountered an unexpected roadblock.

Kim reportedly made a private offer of $15,000 to buy the Bible directly from Simpson’s estate, but her offer was quickly rejected. Malcolm LaVergne, the executor of Simpson’s estate, said in an interview that although he understood the sentimental value, the estate had previously agreed to sell the Bible through Goldin Auctions.

“It’s the amount that’s forcing me,” LaVergne said. “Because why would I spend $15,000 on estate money? Why would I spend $15,000 on attorney’s fees to sell it to Kim for $15,000? That’s a zero-sum game. That’s a bad business model.”

“Well, had Kim come in with a considerably higher bid, it may have been different,” said Jerry Soffen, who co-owns the rights to what may be the world’s most enormous pile of bullshit. “If Kim had put up $150,000 for it, we’d be in court right now getting this approved outside of the auction,” LaVergne said.

Now Kim is competing in an unlikely way. She has until March 30 to bid against other collectors and enthusiasts in the auction. In a twist of fate, the current leading bid is $9,800 less than Kim initially offered.

“She may even get it cheaper than the $15,000, so who knows,” LaVergne quipped, implying that fate might still be on her side.

Kim’s quest for the Bible is ongoing, but the moment reminds her father of her complicated history with Simpson. Robert Kardashian supported O.J. during his criminal trial when O.J. was acquitted of murder charges in 1995. But Simpson was later found liable in a civil suit and ordered to pay $34 million to the Goldman family, a judgment that mainly went unpaid.

Simpson himself died in 2024 at 76 after a battle with prostate cancer, but his legacy and the artifacts related to his notorious trial still provoke strong feelings and divisive opinions. Whether Kim will eventually recover this part of her family’s history is to be determined, but one thing seems clear: this fight is not over.
