The rap game is littered with feuds, but add in social media, and hostilities can zero in on one another in almost real-time. This time, Bronx rapper Lil Tjay has Offset in his sights, and the one-time Migos member won't go down without a fight. What began as a promotional post for new music on Instagram quickly escalated into a public exchange of shots fired between two disparate artists.
March 11, Lil Tjay confirmed a tease of a song on his Instagram Tuesday. However, instead of making it purely about the music, he used the caption to throw some shade at Offset.
"I could never be broke like Set runnin' off makin' smoke over lunch money," Tjay wrote about his longstanding claim that Offset owes him money. He didn't stop there, issuing "free smoke" to anyone who doubted him when the track arrived this Friday (March 14).
Offset would not let a call-out go unnoticed, though, and clapped back in the comments, demanding a face-off on the live stream. "Let's #### on life. I'll fly to you. This ain't gone stop ya fell off allegations," he shot back. Then, in an apparent show of force, he offered to bring the fight to Lil Tjay's hometown. "Come in New York and do me one-on-one live."
If the Instagram post wasn't enough, Offset was also on Lil Tjay's lyrical radar. A preview of his new song, released on March 10, contains several references to Offset's personal life. Tjay hints at Offset's repeatedly reported split from Cardi B, noting that money had to do with it.
"He lost his b#### cuz he ain't have the G's/Shout to Quincy my son the extorter/I ain't worried about Set that's his money/He could get shot he look like a bunny," he raps in the unreleased song.
Lil Tjay isn't the first to accuse Offset of being broke. Their beef dates back to January 2024, when Tjay publicly accused Offset of owing him $10,000 from a gambling debt. While on a Twitch livestream, Tjay accused Offset of begging for cash at a casino and that no one was answering his phone calls.
"Why I diss Offset? Offset broke," Tjay said flatly during the stream. "Let me tell y'all a true story. I saw the n#### in the casino. He was popped, he panicked. He was asking random people for Cash Apps, he was poor."
Tjay then proceeded to state that Pitchfork would call it, and Offset was asking for loans but was being ignored. "I don't know why nobody was answering his phone call." "He got a gambling addiction, he must.
With neither rapper willing to let things die out, fans are left to wonder — will this all stay in the comment section, or will Offset and Lil Tjay take it to a live stream like the Yung Bans of the new generation? Neither artist has backed off so far, and the intensity is increasing.
For now, the focus and anticipation will go toward Lil Tjay's Friday drop, which goes head-to-head with his own when fans can hear the full extent of his lyrical shots. Bar for bar, live stream confrontation, whatever it was… this beef isn't dead yet. Stay tuned because anything goes wrong when Hip-Hop feuds get their pages turned in the public eye.
