One community is reeling, one family is broken, and two fugitives are at large. Police have identified two suspects in the killing of rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter, R'Mani Sibley, and officials say: "These are armed and dangerous men."
Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez confirmed at a news conference Wednesday, March 5, that the wanted men were identified as Adonis Robinson and Jacobe Russell, who are charged with capital murder.
"We got Public Enemy Number One, Adonis Robinson, who happens to be a registered sex offender," Hernandez said. "Public Enemy Number Two, Jacobe Russell, currently at large. They're scared. They're cowards. They're hiding."
The urgency in his voice was unmistakable: these suspects must be brought to justice before another life is lost."
It was the morning of March 3 when the sound of gunfire erupted at Slappy's Car Wash on Forest Hill Drive. Officers got to the scene to discover Lil Ronnie, whose birth name is Ronnie Sibley, and his daughter dead. All life-saving efforts were attempted however nothing could be done.
A motive has yet to be released by authorities, but they're not sparing any effort in their quest for justice. The Texas Rangers, Fort Worth Police Department, and Tarrant County Sheriff's Office collaborate to find Robinson and Russell.
Chief Hernandez stressed that the public's cooperation is crucial. "We are aware of the video which was posted online," he said, referring to the footage that spread on social media. "We ask the public not to share it." But just like you all saw in that video, if you know where they are, pick up the phone and call 911."
Lil Ronnie's death has left the Texas hip-hop community reeling. Identified by his gritty lyrics and undeniable talent, he was creating a legacy, now cruelly truncated. But the worst tragedy of all? The loss of R'Mani, an innocent child with her whole life in front of her.
As the investigation continues, authorities are also examining whether Lil Ronnie's music or social media presence was to blame in the shooting. "We are looking into that based on the music industry that he's a part of, all of it is part of the investigation," Hernandez said. "All the stuff that's being put out is being reviewed and analyzed by the Texas Rangers."
And even though the case is high-profile, Chief Hernandez was insistent: this is not the community. "To the community, I say we are a safe community," he added.
Robinson and Russell remain significant, and the authorities appeal to anyone with information to come forward. In Texas, capital murder carries potential life without parole or death, but first, these fugitives must be captured and brought to justice.
Anyone with information about the location of Adonis Robinson or Jacobe Russell is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 513-713-2222. And justice for Lil Ronnie and his daughter requires action before it's too late.
