Nick Cannon just sent social media into a tizzy once again; this time, it's all in the name of his growing family tree. During an animated chat on his podcast, "We Playin' Spades," on Monday, the entertaining multihyphenate emphasized that fatherhood is still on the agenda for him. Having already fathered 12 kids, Cannon confidently declared, "I'm not done."
The moment unfolded when former NFL players Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, who appeared as guests on the podcast, shared that both had undergone vasectomies after fathering children. Not missing the chance to get in a little friendly roasting, Crowder turned to Cannon and quipped, "You know, it's another man at this table that needs to think about that s**t, bro."
Cannon, never one to miss an opportunity for a joke, sighed and said, "Feel like this is an intervention." He acknowledged that a vasectomy may be the "responsible thing to do," but he's just not there yet.
"I just not done," he declared, saying that he couldn't help but feel a little "judged" by the tone of the conversation.
Cannon's podcast co-host, Courtney Bee, tried again, asking whether Cannon would be open to conceiving another baby with one of the women who already have kids with him. His response? It's a vintage Nick Cannon non-answer. "I don't know," he mused, adding, "That's the thing. I leave it to the Lord."
Cannon, 44, has become as well known for his abundant brood as he is for his showbiz career. His first children, twins Moroccan and Monroe, are 13 and were born during his marriage to pop diva Mariah Carey.
Since then, he's had ten more children with five different women:
Brittany Bell: Golden (eight), Powerful Queen (four) and Rise (two).
Abby De La Rosa: Twins Zion and Zillion (3), Beautiful (2)
Bre Tiesi: Legend of Love (2).
LaNisha Cole: Onyx (2).
Alyssa Scott: Halo (2) and their late son Zen, who died of brain cancer in December 2021 at five months old.
Of course, Cannon's proclamation lit the internet aflame. And social media reacted with everything from playful jabs to sober debates over parenting and responsibility. Others couldn't stop laughing, saying, "Nick Cannon at this point trying to start his own country." Others wondered whether he could be there for all his children while managing his busy career.
Other fans defended him, arguing that as long as he can financially and emotionally support his kids, he should feel free to continue expanding his brood. Nick Cannon isn't about to change his mind soon. And if history is any guide, baby No. 13 could be in the works. So stay tuned because the surprises keep coming with Cannon.
