In the new movie Rolling Loud, Sexyy Red is swapping the rap stage for the silver screen in her acting debut. The breakout St. Louis rapper will share the screen with a few heavy hitters, including Ty Dolla $ign, Ski Mask The Slump God, Owen Wilson, and the unstoppable Henry Winkler. This is an exciting new chapter for the "Pound Town" rapper, who is solidifying her influence beyond music.
Jeremy Garelick directs the film, which should be a fun ride. It stars a father, played by Wilson, who undertakes a ridiculous, hilarious quest to sneak his son into the international mega-music festival Rolling Loud. What could go wrong? Made for a festival-abounding madcap world full of an unpredictable audience and oddball personalities, including, naturally, Sexyy Red herself, expect hilarity and vertiginous turns at every turn.
Rolling Loud is not a typical music festival, and this film is not a typical concert movie. Between its R-rated edge, self-referential humor, and a plot cluttered with unpredictable twists, Rolling Loud looks to be a can't-miss for both fans of hip-hop and fans of comedy alike.
In addition to directing, Garelick, the CEO of American High, is also writing and producing the film. He's backed up by Live Nation Productions' Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino, so the movie has a shot to capture the essence of the festival experience. Production is already underway in Atlanta, where the film's set to be a glamorous road trip, presumably with plenty of stars in conversation about the festival-fueled adventure.
And for Sexyy Red, this foray into acting is simply another power move. She's already a force to be reckoned with in the music scene, and now she's venturing into a brand new space. But never fear; Hollywood will not keep her off the stage long. She's still in as a performer at this year's Rolling Loud California festival, scheduled at Hollywood Park on March 15 and 16. She'll share a stage with Ski Mask, The Slump God, and even more massive names such as A$AP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and Peso Pluma.
As Rolling Loud 2026 is approaching, fans have always watched for more. (With the festival appearances, the Hollywood debut, and her burgeoning rap career, Sexyy Red seems to have the talent to dominate both industries.) Whether she's barking bars or hitting punchlines on-screen, one thing's certain Sexyy Red's star power is getting more significant.
