In the always-twisting tale of Ye (Kanye West), the rapper has now entered yet another arena to air his grievances about his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and the couple’s extensive custody battle: Change.Org.
The hip-hop titan, 47, publicly backs a petition that seeks what its supporters call “immediate change” to what they claim is his limited access to his four children: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. The petition, which recently started circulating, claims that the “Two Words” rapper has been “barred in certain ways” from being able to see and raise his kids and that “as the father of his children, he has the right to be with them.”

West and Kardashian reached a divorce settlement in 2022, with Kim receiving primary custody of the children. Still, the fight over parenting and the general family business continues to spill into the public environment, often messily. Ye’s fans, tired of what they feel is an unfair system, are now using this petition to come together and make the case for change despite the fact the petition itself has no legal influence.
In one of his more emotional assertions, he claimed he hadn’t seen his son Saint in over a year. That’s a big declaration, particularly when you’re a man who’s built a brand around the concept of family, legacy, and control.
The petition doesn’t dice words. It says, “When there is no father figure in the home, they are handicapped as to what they can do to protect their children,” and then says, “He as a father by default has the right to say what goes and what doesn’t go in his children’s life.”
Recently, he tweeted about a meeting with a Jewish attorney who reportedly threatened him that his behavior, namely antisemitic remarks, would be threatening his access to his children. “He was correct, for now. God is on my side.” The post blew up in the usual way that anything Ye touches lights up social media.
But maybe even more noteworthy is his most recent release, “Cousins,” which he posted yesterday. In it, Ye raps about profoundly sensitive and even upsetting personal experiences, drawing instant recrimination and stoking further questions about his mental health.
Meanwhile, Kim, 44, has reportedly restricted Ye’s access to the kids, with insiders saying it’s because of “unpredictable behavior” and disturbing online posts. She’s mostly stayed silent, allowing the court-ordered custody contract to do the talking.
There was one flashpoint between the co-parents after North attended Coachella at Ye’s order, a decision the rapper later publicly criticized, pointing to his daughter’s use of makeup and perfume. He says his concerns have gone neglected, and the petition captures that sense of being overlooked.
This latest twist involving a petition appears to be less about a legal attack and more about raising public consciousness. Whether it alters the custody arrangement is a separate question. But in true Ye fashion, he’s making sure his side of the story isn’t
heard but blasted.
