Will Smith Hints at 'Men in Black' Return, 'They Just Threw the Bag!'

The Galaxy Defenders could be gearing up once more, and this time, Will Smith may seriously be in line to strap on the neuralyzer. In a recent Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast interview, this iconic thesp began ringing bells about his eventual return to a similar classic franchise. During a chat with hosts Gillie Da Kid and Wallo, Smith mentioned that Sony had made a new offer an hour before his interview.

"They literally called me this morning, literally an hour before I came down here, they just threw the bag for another Men in Black," he said, catching both hosts by surprise.

But there was one minor issue: his summer plans. "I was like, 'Oh, I'm meant to be going on tour this summer!'" Smith said that the surprise timing could be out of his hands.

And as to why Smith would be in a bind to resume one of his most beloved roles, the answer is obvious: He didn't intend on making sequels anymore.

"I swore I was done with sequels," he said. "I thought, 'I've done plenty of sequels. I have a few ideas for new things I want to create."

Given Smith's filmography, which includes franchises like Bad Boys, Men in Black, and Independence Day, he would want to try something new. But as he suggested, a deal of this magnitude and the timing might be enough to get him to think twice.

The Men in Black series has been a cornerstone of Smith's time at the Hollywood top, beginning with the 1997 blockbuster, establishing him as a box office juggernaut. The franchise became a trilogy with direct sequels in 2002 and 2012 and then a sort of reboot in 2019 with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in Men in Black: International. However, the movie lacked some of its magic without Smith and Tommy Lee Jones.

And if they bring Smith back into the Men in Black universe, it could lend itself to a return to the old duo formula with Jones or perhaps a new partner. Given Hollywood's affinity for legacy sequels, we might get a new take on the secret agency game, one with a dose of nostalgia but with a contemporary bent.

Should Smith take the offer, that could mean rescheduling some of his other plans, including a whispered-about tour. The multi-talented star has spent the years with a foot in music, releasing a handful of songs and returning to hip-hop's roots. Returning to the big stage would be huge for longtime fans, but a new Men in Black might be equally thrilling.

So when Sony waved a bag big enough to make him think twice, the question wasn't just whether Will Smith would return but whether he could decline. Either way, fans are prepared, be it a tour or another trip with the galaxy's finest. It seems the ball or the neutralizer is in his court.
