Kodak Black Freestyle Sparks Shock, 'Meth Habit' Line Fans the Flames of Concern

Kodak Black is stirring up internet chatter over a single line from his recent On the Radar freestyle. On Wednesday, May 21, the Florida rapper casually tweeted, "young n#### with a meth habit," causing fans and critics alike to descend into a speculative whirlpool of concern and disbelief.

The internet didn't have to wait too long to go wild. "Lost me with meth habit," one social media user wrote directly. Another wrote, "I fucc wit yak that meth bar was diabolical." And a third, making a cultural difference, some fans speculated, "It's a tribute to [Trick Daddy] lowkey. But a meth habit is wild, my boy."

Kodak Black has been honest in the past about his struggles with substance abuse. The meth reference is not a first-time reveal because back in 2023, the rapper explicitly said, "I done told y'all, I did meth before. I'm not going to ride around with no cocaine." Though he's repeatedly claimed he's sworn on his "daughter's life" that he's never used cocaine, his rap sheet appears to tell a different kind of story, one involving legal issues and substance-related arrests.

It began as far back as 2015 with a charge linked to marijuana. Things got worse by 2022 after he was slapped with an oxycodone trafficking charge. In 2023, he was once again in the news after having been arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine. This charge was later explained by the discovery of the fact that the substance involved in the incident was a legally prescribed type of oxycodone.

But the most chilling admission came in June 2024, when Kodak revealed that he was dangerously addicted to Percocet. "Man, I was chewing 100 Percs a day, Average 40!" he admitted. The line between transparency and tragedy was razor thin as he went on, "If I was f###### with them fake s####, bruh, I'd have been dead."

It was a moment of naked vulnerability that screamed past the noise. He then added a disclaimer on behalf of his fans, "I don't want y'all to hear that and take that and feel like it's okay to do that s###, ya feel me?"

Regrettably, such flashes of self-awareness have been eclipsed by reversals in momentum. In early 2023, Kodak failed a court-ordered drug test for fentanyl and was ordered by a judge to spend 30 days in rehab. Since, he says, he has spent time and money on treatment, trying to get clean in the public eye.

But the freestyle has reopened some old wounds, not just for Kodak but also for fans who've followed his tumultuous journey. The "meth habit" line wasn't a bar; it was a reminder that behind the hits and headlines is a man who is still struggling with very real demons.

Some heard it as an expression of artistic honesty; a few listened to a call for help. Either way, the intended message was impossible to ignore: Kodak Black is still fighting, and the world is still watching.
