Lil Uzi Vert Breaks Silence After NYC Hospital Scare, “I’m Still Loaded, Still Loved”

Philadelphia’s Lil Uzi Vert re-emerges from a worrisome hospital visit into the spotlight, bringing the vibes and a certain amount of reassurance. Its return comes just two weeks after an emergency in Lower Manhattan plunged fans into a panic. Now, the flamboyant rapper’s back on Instagram with a message fitting only for Uzi: “Dear Summer, I know you will be overly good to me,” he wrote, also noting, “Feeling Free and IM STILL LOADED!!!! I love you all more than life. Oh, and … “Thanks, again, for loving me.”

For fans, the words function like a sigh of relief draped in a neon rainbow. The post contained several of Uzi’s characteristic high-energy video clips, indicating that the rapper is on the mend and still very much himself.

The scare unfolded on April 21 when paramedics responded to a “sick person” call at a luxury condo-building unit in Lower Manhattan. Uzi was discovered being loaded into an ambulance around 2:30 p.m. but blocked from public view as he was wheeled in by security and his girlfriend, rapper JT, under cover of giant black umbrellas. He was kept in the hospital overnight.

There has been no official statement from his team or the hospital regarding exactly what led to the emergency. Still, the event reopened a difficult conversation about Uzi’s past, including his admitted use of nitrous oxide, which many users inhale from small metal canisters as “whippets.” Speculation has swirled since a popular 2024 viral video surfaced online that captured the rapper inhaling from a balloon during a studio session and raised concern for his health and art in equal measure.

Uzi even spoke out against the habit in a Dec.2024 interview, openly stating things like being “overrated” and “really bad,” and even going so far as to have issued a warning to fans directly: “Don’t do whippets!” His brutal candor gained him praise, especially from those who had watched his music transform over the years of highs and lows.

By November, he appeared to have rounded a corner: He shared a selfie, which he captioned “No more bad stuff” and paired with a salute and a balloon emoji, possibly a quiet gesture to get past what once blocked his creativity.

Now, courtesy of a beaming Instagram update alongside that “I’m still loaded” confidence, Uzi appears to be rearing to return to summer with all the charisma we’ve come to expect from him. He’s recovering and rebounding in classic Lil Uzi Vert fashion: colorful, chaotic, and utterly full of heart. And if his message is to be believed, he’s not taking any of it for granted. Whether you love him, doubt him, or both, this is clear: Uzi isn’t going anywhere.
