Twilight Stunt Work drops a firecracker of pop-punk nostalgia with "Lana"

Twilight Stunt's debut single, "Lana," is a high-octane pop-punk jam that hits like a slingshot to the heart. With the optimal mix of angst, melody, and teenage chaos, "Lana" could be the spark to light your summer Playlist on fire. You can practically hear the smirk behind the mic, with all the influence from scene giants like A Day to Remember and blink-182 channeled in somewhere, yet they manage to create a sound entirely on their own. Twilight Stunt Work isn't overly reliant on nostalgia but uses it as rocket fuel.

Guitar tones snap with a coke-bottle quality, lending an edge that elevates the song from catchy to cathartic. The rhythm track still powers everything else, every song the perfect late-at-night blast in a beat-up car with your best friends, windows down, volume up, acknowledgment and understanding of the a-faraway and nowhere-all-at-once you've got to be other than where you are at the moment.

"Lana" hits that sweet point between frustration and release; these lyrics are biting, honest, and relatable. They read like a page torn from the journal you forgot you kept in high school. The storytelling has a sly twist of irony, but the emotional core remains in place. "Lana" is about that universal longing to escape, to make a mess, and maybe, on the way down, to fall a little in love, badly, with the wrong person.

"Lana" is a cut that could just as easily be at home behind the Golden Era of Warped Tour as it would in today's diverse playlists. It's nostalgic, all right, but not backward-looking. Instead, "Lana" moves right ahead, with a brio that feels like Twilight Stunt Work is only beginning. Twilight Stunt Work isn't paying homage to pop-punk but is here to reimagine it in their image. And with "Lana," they're opening that chapter with one hell of a chorus. Twilight Stunt Work is the one, and "Lana" is the anthem we didn't ask for, but now we have.
