Drake & Kai Cenat Go Live With $300K Fan Giveaway

It combines hip-hop royalty and streaming supremacy: Drake and Kai Cenat will team up for a one-of-a-kind Livestream event tonight with $300,000 in creative cash. The rapper and the content king will press the “Go Live” button to present the 20 winners of their fan-powered “Somebody Loves Me” video challenge. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill contest. Each of the 20 chosen creators will receive a $15,000 prize to bring their visual dreams to life in a full-blown music video moment. It’s a payday as well as a passion project.

The challenge asked fans to offer brief, 30-second to one-minute video treatments for any part of “Somebody Loves Me,” a track off of Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s collaborative effort, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. The result is a 100% Fan-Directed Full-Length music video comprised of modified shots provided by fans in an open call, a visual mixtape driven by you.

When Kai Cenat publicly flambeed Drake’s “NOKIA” video, Drake played the bigger man and, after a savvy bit of turnabout, ceded the throne. That move ignited the Somebody Loves Me challenge, and now fans are behind the camera, creating their interpretation.

Drake put the competition into overdrive with only a call to action he could muster up: “CALL ALL VI$$$IONARIES.” He challenged creators to step outside the box, to tap those few durable, genius ideas that lurk in plain sight. “This is a time to be creative,” he said. “Find what ideas everybody’s going to watch and wish they came up with themselves.”

And it seems that the submissions did not disappoint. Cenat, who name-dropped the event in his Instagram Stories on Tuesday night to tease tonight’s stream, was thoroughly impressed. “We were absolutely floored by the creativity and consideration put into each entry,” he said. “We were supposed to go live today but needed some extra time to look through them.”

“Tomorrow DRAKE & I gonna go through some of the submission with you guys, share some of my favorites and some of the not so good ones, and let ya’ll know which 20 ppl getting money to bring their treatments to life!” he added.

In classic Cenat form, expect laughs, raw reactions, and a couple of viral moments as the pair review submissions from mind-blowing to cringe and determine the top 20. Drake even tweeted out one of the funnier submissions earlier this week, which quickly went viral.

So, whether you’re one of the hopeful 20 or just here for fun, tonight’s stream will surely blend big laughs, big money, and creativity.
