So you know people were in full old-head air filtration mode, but those who double-took and rubbed their eyes found that, on the latest episode of Joe and Jada, Jim Jones was out here tapdancing on traditional rap waters with the claim that he's more relevant than Nas.
It began when Jones was dragged for filth online by a 22-year-old Hip-Hop fan from New Jersey, who went viral for opening online how Jones has not only eclipsed Nas in relevance but also chart clout. Instead of ducking the dispute, the Harlem rapper leaned in across from Fat Joe and Jadakiss; Jones held court and let it fly shade-free, with pure conviction.

"These kids love me. They know what little the fuck they know about Nas [sic]," Jim said, clarifying that he was speaking from the point of view of today's kids. "Nas dropped his first album when I was in high school. These younger cats? They're growing up on me."
He certainly wasn't taking shots, however. Jim made sure to show respect to the OGs. "Many of these rappers have built phenomenal things," he said. I don't take anything from them. But they forget I got a hell of a catalog." Me, Jim Jones myself. Gold records, platinum records, gold albums, platinum albums, you know me. Jim Jones, no Diplomats."
And if you thought that was audacious, he wasn't finished. Jones backed up the number with his mouth and challenged anyone in those clubhouse locker stalls to compare numbers.
"Take a look at my track record, look at everybody else's track record," he said. "Go on Billboard and look at all of my entries and look at all of the entries for them [expletive] songs."
Fat Joe attempted some pacification: "We can't compare the two," he said gently. But Jones doubled down. "Pull up Nas Billboard entries, then pull up mine." He wouldn't let it go and was not about to refuse to add some fuel to the fire.
He fanged them and went right into the wildfire of social media. Within hours, fans arrived with receipts. According to Stats, Nas had a longer, stronger list of Billboard hits, platinum, plaques, and legacy-shaping albums, and they both have their fair share of classics.
He arrived on Instagram with a smirk and a caption that read like a digital shrug: "Yal do know after I get yal in your feelings on social media, I go back to living a real good life, lol."
Oh, and he wasn't finished spinning at the moment, either. Sidebar: going viral is a massive weapon in entertainment. Feb. 21 is the 52nd day of the year. Stay current, my friend."
And with that, he had the whole room with the timing of a showman selling tickets to his next act: "I see I got yal attention. U gotta figure out how to bend the algorithm lol. SUMMER JAM TOMORROW." Whether you're on the side of the legends or the longevity, there's no doubt about it, but Jones knows how to push buttons and keep the spotlight aflame.
