Nicki Minaj Sounds the Alarm, "They're Watching Me"

The rapper Nicki Minaj is now sending cryptic, emotionally fraught tweets to fans, the Barbz, in full-on investigation mode. Over the weekend, the rap queen aired claims of sabotage, surveillance, and a conspiracy to keep her separated not only from her audience (and her audience from her) but also from her own music on X (formerly Twitter).

Minaj's latest album, Pink Friday 2, was released in December 2023, and she hasn't released new music since. And now, she says, that pause isn't just about dramatic timing but something more profound.

Fans immediately started to speculate. Who are "them"? What are the "confirmations"? What is Nicki really saying? She didn't call anyone out by name, at least not yet, but if there's one thing her posts screamed, it was that enough is enough.

One of the most personal she leveled was that someone was attempting to destroy her marriage to Kenneth Petty, with whom she has a four-year-old son. "Attempting to convince a husband to leave his wife & children with paper-thin excuses & keep his baseball card." Yuck," she said. "No one hates a happy marriage more than ppl in an unhappy one.

But the drama doesn't stop at home. Minaj says she and her fans are purposefully silenced. Shadowbanned, Flagged, Suspended, Manipulated. She noted suspicious activity on her accounts, from disappearing likes to strange posts that would appear in her feed. "Save all info you have on this... She is saying that as soon as we hit like on something, we @ a bot to try to get it taken down, hence why I appreciate all the artists, new artists I've been working with." "Listening devices. Cameras. Car tags…"

When someone inquired why she'd been MIA on TikTok, Minaj dropped another bombshell: "They have had control of my accounts for who knows how long now. I didn't even change the passwords. Also, you have no idea how dirty it gets. Enough is enough."

She did not hold back a bit of shade in classic Nicki form, this time all for Memphis Bleek. "Calling Goofy Bleek to the rescue," she wrote. Whether it's symbolic or personal, it's apparent tensions are intensifying.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, she followed it up with a repost of explosive allegations leveled by Demoree Hadley, daughter of Desrie Perez, CEO of Roc Nation. Hadley has also sued her mother for allegedly having her committed to a mental institution, and she says on one livestream that she believes Jay-Z firm Roc Nation was going after Minaj to try to ruin her career.

There has been no response from Roc Nation, Bleek, or Nicki's camp. Nicki is not about to back down. Whether it is the start of a public accounting or the tip of an iceberg, the queen has spoken, and her fans hear her. Closely.
