Offset Wants Spousal Support From Cardi B While Owing Nearly $2M in Taxes

Offset is seeking spousal support from Cardi B even while the I.R.S. and multiple states are knocking at his door for nearly $2 million in back taxes. While the rapper is described as married, according to court documents, he hasn’t been paying off some serious debts, court documents and liens obtained by In Touch Weekly reveal. The Georgia Department of Revenue filed a $294,000 lien for his 2021 taxes. But that’s the tip of the iceberg. Add another $1.57 million federal tax bill from the previous year, and we’re up to a morally offensive $1,866,978.73 in unpaid taxes.

And as if that wasn’t enough, along comes California. A separate lien filed in June 2024 further pads Offset’s ballooning tab, and all three liens are in his name alone. Cardi B? There is not a trace on any of the paperwork.

And yet, with that massive tax burden in mind, Offset is legally posturing himself to try to get alimony from Cardi amid their ongoing divorce. The updated filing, handed down earlier this month in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, does not specify the amount he is seeking; still, the fact that he wants it back has some people speculating.

Rocky doesn’t begin to cover the couple’s breakup. Cardi B filed for divorce in July after six years of marriage and has asked for primary custody of their three children. A representative for the Bronx-born rapper confirmed the breakup “has been a long time coming and is amicable.” But if you’ve been following the drama online, you might beg to differ.

In December, Offset took to social media to take a shot at Cardi, stating that she “looks like the hoe.” In classic Cardi style, Cardi fired back: “You sound slow,” she clapped before adding, “F**k off and sign the papers TODAY!!!

It’s not their first ride on the divorce rollercoaster. Cardi had filed before, in 2020, but it was called off later; she said, “It’s hard not to talk to your best friend.” For a while, it felt like the two had steered their way back, but now it feels like everything is falling apart, rather permanently.

So here we are, now: Offset, with multiple state tax collectors on his tail, asking a woman whom he publicly insulted at length and whom he is in the process of divorcing to help him out with a bit of cash. It’s sloppy, it’s dramatic, and, let’s face it, it’s difficult to stop watching. As the legal dust settles and the numbers mount, this breakup is going to be expensive in more ways than one.
